Robert Alan Haney, retired Army Master Sergeant, age 81, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away February 20, 2025 in Springfield, Missouri after living with diabetes since the age of 49.

Bob was born in Williston, North Dakota to Alfred Haney Jr. and Josephine Haney on July 27, 1943.

As an infant, Bob was baptized into the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church in Grenora, North Dakota. He moved with his family to Spokane, WA in the early 1950's. He was confirmed at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Spokane. As a resident of Springfield, he was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Bob attended school at Spokane Lutheran School and North Central High School in Spokane, WA. He earned his degree from Missouri State University in 1986.

Bob enlisted in the US Army in 1960 and served 22 years in active service. He retired in 1982. He worked as a private investigator in Pittsburg, PA for 8 years retiring in 2005. He was then employed at the Missouri Veterans Office for another 12 years.

Bob met Odean Hoye after he retired. Odean was a spunky gal and a much loved companion. They enjoyed several years together as residents of Gulf Stream, Florida. Following Odean's death, Bob moved back to Springfield.

Bob was an avid golfer and participated in many tournaments as well as attending a number of Masters' Tournaments. He served as a Shriner and was involved in several other community organizations. Bob loved music.

Bob is survived by his two sons; James Jeffers, Milton, WV and Patrick Haney (Iris), Crailsheim

Germany. Three grandchildren; Brittani Jeffers, Boulder, CO, Brooke Null, Louisville, CO, Hayley Jeffers, Hamlin, WV and a great grandson, Oliver Null, Louisville, CO. He is survived by seven siblings; Marlys Meece Haney, Richard Haney, Roland (Janet) Haney, Melinda James, Roger (Yvonne) Haney, Merrie Jean Mousseau and Michele Banks. Bob was an uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. His dog, Toby, was adopted into a loving family thanks to his good friend, Lynda Bain.

Bob will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Interment is planned at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery.
