In Loving Memory of Robert Eugene Harness

August 10, 1936 - September 16, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Robert "Bob" Eugene Harness, who left us peacefully on September 16, 2025, in Litchfield Park, Arizona. Bob was born in Orange, Texas, on August 10, 1936, to Clarence and Catherine Harness. Bob was a cherished son, brother, father, and friend.

Bob proudly graduated from Topeka High School in 1953. After graduation, Bob's adventurous spirit took flight on a year-long journey through Europe. This experience sparked his lifelong love of adventure and exploration. After Europe, he continued his education at Washburn University. Bob was a proud member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and earned his degree in Business Administration.

Bob was a patriot at heart., He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956 and continued his service until 1961 when he was honorably discharged from in the Army National Guard. Bob's love for his country was a beacon for all who knew him.

Bob's kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit touched many. Towering in stature and heart, he was affectionately known as a "sweet teddy bear" to all who met him.

His passion for fast cars was legendary; he was a familiar face on Kansas racetracks, and a proud lifelong member of the Sports Car Club of America, where he set many records and made a host of lifelong friends.

Bob spent his entire career working for Sante Fe Railway in their corporate offices. After nearly four decades of loyal service with the Santa Fe Railway, he retired in 1998. He and his beloved wife, Carol, relocated from Topeka to Carson City, Nevada after retirement, where they spent many joyful years hosting friends and embracing life's simple pleasures.

Bob and Carol built a beautiful, blended family. Bob is survived by his son Kurt Harness (Jill) of Litchfield Park, Arizona, and stepchildren: Greg (Jan), Lonnie Galyean, Steven (Gale), Marty, and Becky. He was a proud grandfather to one grandson and a loving step-grandfather and step-great-grandfather to many.

He is preceded in death by his devoted wife Carol, his stepson, Tom, his parents Clarence and Catherine, and his brother Donald.

Bob's legacy is one of love, laughter, and loyalty - a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
