I only learned yesterday of the loss of your son. My sincere condolences to you and your family. You were my favorite teacher at Robert Morris while attending evening classes back in 1986. Reading about all the great accomplishments of your son has to be in part because of the influence of his parents. You are truly a remarkable woman and I hope you can find comfort in knowing how you have influenced many others in their lives. Sincerely, Camille Iacobucci

Your courage during the recent hospital stay and through the loss of Robert has truely inspired me. Robert was such a good and giving person that maybe he was called by God for a higher purpose. As you know, my thoughts and prayers are always with you and your family, as well as the Hartleys.

There are puposes that you and Robert's family cannot perceive or comprehend. You may never understand - at least not in this life - but all of you must never let go of your faith. I am thinking of you lifting you in prayer. May the love of God, your family and your friends comfort you during the difficult days ahead.

I was saddened to hear of Robert's passing through the Rollins Alumni Association. As a proud member of the Class of '91, I remember Robert's "can do" attitude and "always on the scene" photographic presence. It was my privilege to know him and read of his continued dedication to the community.

Your loss is such a sad one. As I read about Robert, I begin to understand what a wonderful young man he was. Why am I not surprised?

I was deeply saddened by the announcement of your son's death in Mary Beth's e-mail. I have thought of you so often since our reunion in October. Though I did not have the privilege of knowing Robert, I know he had to be a man of character and a delight to know because of his mother. Dear Barbara; you both inspired me. Robert was so kind, took pictures for the Basket Brigade and even took the extra baskets to the Winter Park Housing Authority for their families. Because of his generosity to share, the legacy of helping these families through Basket Brigade will continue.

Robert Hartley was one of the kindest, most gentle individuals I have ever known. Possessed of great intelligence and a love of life, he brought out the best in others.



I had not known he was ill and I shall miss him.

It has been a great honor and pleasure for me to have known Robert. He embodies, to me, a great can-do attitude for life.

Dear Nell and Tom, what a ride Robert had during those 35 years! He crammed more vibrancy and energy into his inspired life than most people do in 70 plus.
