Robert Soutter Hemmings 88, was born in New York City to Esther and Harry Hemmings. He is preceded in death by his loving son, Jeffrey Scott and brothers, Anthony, Nick and John. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Sara (McArthur) of 35 years and his children, Joan Hlach and David Hemmings; grandchildren, Cindy Kedzierski (Kevin) and Stephen Halch; three great-grandchildren and siblings, Richard and Pamela Hemmings. Robert was employed by The Equitable Assurance Society of New York for several years before transferring to Chicago where he met Sara in 1977 and married in 1979. After retiring from Equitable Life, Robert became a successful Broker and moved to Tucson in 1990 with Sara where he fell in love with Tucson's blue skies, mountains, people and its beauty. Robert fought in WWII where he received a Purple Heart. He was a Life Master Bridge tournament player and avid golfer. Robert loved sitting on his patio enjoying the sun while eating his favorite sandwiches from Subway with a can of Brisk Iced Tea. He also enjoyed history of wars and spending time with his family. A Memorial Service will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, Friday, November 7, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.

My sincere sympathies to the Hemmings Family. Please take comfort in God's promises that he will swallow up death forever and wipe away tears from all faces. Again I'm sorry for your loss.
