1929 ~ 2017
Dr. Robert Lee Holley, Mapleton, passed peacefully to the other side on September 8, 2017. Robert was born to Glenn and Arlena Holley in Mapleton on April 25, 1929.
He attended schools in Springville where he excelled in his studies. He served a mission for the LDS church in Hawaii, spending most of it in the small town of Hana. He loved the people, the culture and the language of Hawaii. He graduated from BYU. While there he met and married Wanda Taylor of Spanish Fork. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 1, 1954. Bob and Wanda moved to Washington DC, where he got his doctoral degree in dentistry from Georgetown. Upon graduating he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Beale Air Force Base in California.
After serving as a Captain in the Air Force he set up his dental practice in Yuba City, CA where many lifelong friendships were made. As his parents aged he found the need to move closer. In 1976 the family moved to Sandy, UT where they lived until retirement.
He loved studying the gospel and served in many church callings throughout his life including bishop, bishopric counselor, high priest group leader and high councilman.
Bob loved his family. He was preceded in death by his daughter Julia Harman, son in law Mark Harman, his parents, and his brothers Russell and Lum. He is survived by his wife of 63 years and his children Robert and Hyun Sook Holley, South Korea, Shelley and Stuart Tholen, South Weber, David and Jerie Holley, Millcreek, Richard and Danette Holley, Draper, James and Lynn Holley, Herriman, Wesley and Shannon Holley, Mapleton, Michael and Kathy Holley, Sandy, and Laurie and Tucker Hatch, Snohomish, WA, 36 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Dear Wanda and family...It is with a sad heart that I write these few words of condolences. It is times like now that we are so thankful for the Plan of Salvation to know that we will truly be together again with those we love. I have lost all of my siblings and am the last reminding one in the Myers family. My twin, Janice, having passed about 2 years ago. She lost both of her children, Kevin & Debbie about 6 months before her passing. These experiences make me much more appreciative of the Plan of Salvation and keeps me comforted. I loved Bob and you and feel your lose. You both have been in my thoughts lately and now I wish I had followed the thought to visit you, but I have let something else come up and stop me from coming. May God bless and comfort you and your family at this time and always. Love you, Janet (Jan) Myers.

I just read the wonderful memory of Bishop Holley. He was our first Bishop after David and I got married. We loved your family and have such good memories of our experiences in Yuba City. David and Norma Burdick

Dear Wanda and your beautiful children. I am so sorry for the loss of your sweetheart and father! I worked for Dr Holley many years ago in Sandy. How I grew to love him and your entire family. Shelley worked at the office at that time. I remember helping with wedding luncheons when David and Richard married their brides. Dr Holley was always so kind, and gentle. I remember he never let me leave work each day without telling me thank you, and how much he appreciated me! He was a fine man, with a wonderful wife, and good kids. May your family be comforted and have lasting peace.
With much love, Kaye Ogden

Dear Sister Holley, My wife mentioned that she saw your husbands obituary, you might remember me, I moved to Yuba City as a young lad with my Aunt & uncle Ruth and Christy Gudmundson. Robert was our bishop. Bishop Holley helped mold my life of which I am truly grateful. My name is Mike Gearhart. My sincere condolences to you and your family. Ruth and Christy have passed on and I feel that they would want me to write a note to you. May the Lord comfort you and your family in your time of need.

Dear Dr. Robert Lee Holley,
this is a message from Jean Lee, a friend of your oldest son Robert and his loving wife HyonSuk. Although I haven't met you in person, I could tell how wonderful and doting dad you must have been to your children. Your son Robert is an admirable and beloved figure in South Korea as an educator, lawyer, and social worker with a heart of gold. I am sure he is a great son you must have been so proud of.
Dr. Holley, I pray for you and your whole family. May peace be with you in the arms of God.
