I now live in Dubai and just saw that Bob had passed away. He was a wonderful friend and mentor and an insightful and simply brilliant writer and economic analyst of the highest order. My condolences to his family.

I was so saddened to hear the news of Bob's death. I was so pleased to have finally met the man with the lovely telephone voice when I would phone you.I know how much you will miss him as your new life begins but he will always be beside you.

Bob will be remembered for many reasons, including his great empathy and willingness to assist the "underdog", his gentle demeanor and charm, and the love and respect he evoked from those who knew him. We will miss our dear friend, and send our sympathies to Viola, Craig and Elisabeth.

Bob was many things to many people whose lives he unconditionally enriched, giving always more of himself than he received or expected in return. To say that he will be missed would be an unforgivable understatement!

RIP Bob,I will always remember those games of golf we shared at Larrimac in the 50's.

Bob was a great colleague with a ready wit and warm smile. But equally importantly, he should be remembered for his significant contributions to Canada through his thoughtful and balanced analyses, and his clear, compelling and comprehensive writing of many Economic Council reports.
