Robert K. “Bob� Blackburn, AKA “Grandpa B� or “Mr. B� age 71, a resident of Davenport passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus Davenport. His family will greet friends at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home on Tuesday September 28th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00p.m. Honoring Robert’s wish cremation rites were accorded and there will be no other services. Robert Kenneth Blackburn was born February 16, 1939 in Veroqua, Wisconsin, a son of Kenneth and Mildred (Chadwick) Blackburn. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Dianne James on April 18th, 1970. Bob had worked in construction many years for Des Moines Tile and Marble and locally at the former Witt Flooring in Davenport. What a character! His family will always remember his joking, witty personality and great sense of humor, that he shared with all he met. Bob never knew a stranger. Memorials can be made to his family. Survivors include is wife Marilyn and his children: two daughtersDebra (George) Jones, Polk City, IA, and Verna (Mike) O’Brien, Ft. Collins, CO; his son, Rodger Clay, Davenport; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters and 2 brothers, Lois (O’Dean) Dahl, Donna (Leroy) Vix, John (Doris) Blackburn and Kenny (Anne) Blackburn all of Wisconsin and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his 2 best friends, (canine) Suzie and Rascal.
