Robert Kennedy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 7, 2023.
Robert Louis Kennedy, also known as Bob, passed away on December 1, 2023, at the age of 73 in New Rochelle, NY. He was born on January 20, 1950, in Yonkers, NY. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Bob's educational journey began at Sacred Heart Primary School and continued at Manhattan Prep School. He furthered his studies at Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY, and New York Law School, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1976.

Bob's career was diverse and impactful. He primarily worked in lease financing, notably at Equilease, a subsidiary of Allied Corp. Later in his career, he focused on accounting and tax work for media outlets and non-profit groups, with a special dedication to the Franciscan Friars of Atonement in Garrison, New York.

Outside of his professional life, Bob had a wide range of interests and hobbies. He was a passionate stamp collector and found joy in expressing his creativity through poetry, art, and writing. He loved the challenge of constructing crossword puzzles, playing chess, and spending time in his garden or taking long walks outdoors. Bob had a deep appreciation for Japanese culture and was known for actively engaging with the local community on various projects. He was a regular participant in poetry readings at local cafes, where fellow poets eagerly awaited his performances.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Naomi, his children, Patricia Kennedy, William Kennedy, and Robert Kennedy, as well as his stepson, Eric Munda. He was also cherished by his grandson, Alexander Munda. Bob's sister, Connie Kennedy, and brother, Andrew Kennedy, were an integral part of his life, along with his daughter-in-law, Melissa Munda, and brother-in-law, Jacques Parisot. He was preceded in death by his son, James Kennedy.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023, at 9:30am at Sacred Heart Church, located at 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers, NY 10703. Following the church service, Bob will be laid to rest at St. John's Cemetery, next to Oakland Cemetery, at 2 Saw Mill River Road, Yonkers, NY.

For any funeral arrangement questions, please contact Andrew Kennedy at 914-263-9212.

Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will be cherished, and his contributions to his community and loved ones will never be forgotten.

I'm saddened to learn (belatedly) about Bob's passing. We first met at Manhattan College and were essentially inseparable during our four years of night classes at New York Law School. Bob's interests, like my own, were numerous and varied and there was never a lack of discussion material. Best of all, he had a wickedly absurd sense of humor, which meant we could laugh about nearly anything, even the hard stuff. You will be missed, my friend. Naomi, Connie and Andrew, it would be great to talk with you.

At Transamerica in the early days. Bob would leave milky coffee in a cup for ages just to see what it would look like. He was warm and had a quick wit. Always keeping people laughing - or mad at him (which didn't last for long).

My Brother-Bob-what a worker he was when he was young-I can remember when he was attending Manhattan College-he would leave at 11PM for his night shift job in the Post Office in Yonkers, then go directly to classes at 8AM, come home at 3PM and go to sleep, and wake up at 11PM to do the whole thing again. I believe he also did all 4 of his years of Law School at night while he worked at the same office at his sister Connie during the day

One of my favorite memories of dad is when he taught me how to tie my shoes. He lined up his work shoes along the closet wall and had me practice tying his shoes first.
