Robert Eugene Krauss

ROBERT EUGENE KRAUSS, Bob,87, of Sarasota, FL, died 8/21/2018 of lung cancer. He was born and raised in Columbus, OH where he graduated from Rosary High School, the class of '48. He served as a radio operator in the United States Coast Guard. He had a successful 36 year career with JCPenney starting in Columbus and culminating in Dover, DE, and remained a JCP booster his whole life. He retired to Nettles Island, FL. In August 2008 he attended his 60th Rosary High reunion and reconnected with the one who would quickly become the love of his life . . . another old classmate . . . Lissie Fries (Liselotte Schuh). That blossomed as destiny took over. They married March 6, 2009 and enjoyed a precious late-in-life romance that blessed them both with joyful living, reading, reminiscing, going out to dinner when it was Bob's turn to cook, river cruises in Europe and across America, caring for each other and living a day at a time enjoying each moment they had. He reluctantly leaves Lissie in whose arms he died. He is also survived by sons Jeffrey, Thomas, Robert M, James and daughter, Patty Krauss in Maryland, stepsons Mitchell and Peter Fries, stepdaughters Kimberly Swenson, Nicole O'Reilly, and Anita Hilderbrand, in Ohio, Texas, and Pennsylvania, sister Maryanne Akre in Columbus, 7 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, 3 step-great-grandsons, 1 step-great- granddaugter. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia, his father Jerome Robert Krauss, Mother, Beatrice Marie Smith, Brother, Richard Krauss, son John Krauss, and stepson Matthew Fries.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
