Robert "Bob" LaRouche, aged 90, passed away at home in Oakville, as he wished, July 18, 2024. Born April 16, 1934, Bronx, New York, to Olga Zylka, of Ukrainian descent, and Joseph Napoleon LaRouche (Gauthier dit LaRouche) of Quebec, Bob led a life marked by dedication to his family and profession.
A graduate of Dayton Regional High School,Springfield, NJ, he furthered his education at Antioch University, Ohio. He had a distinguished career in journalism, working 53 years at the St. Louis Post Dispatch in assignments ranging from news photographer to night picture editor, with earlier stints at the Santa Fe New Mexican. Bob was elected to the MO Photojournalists Hall of Fame. He was the photo editor of Sunday Pictures Magazine. His freelance work appeared in national and regional publications. He was a dedicated educator, teaching 25 years at Webster University and 5 years at Maryville University. His great joy was educating young journalists.

Personal interests included canoeing, family camping, acting with Hawthorne Players. He shared Scouting adventures with his son Marc. Bob's children with Deidre Morris Donnelan were Marc-Paul, Robin, Jenifer and Amie. His step children in his 47 year marriage to Sandra Johnson were Holly, Brandon and Laurel. He had 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren

Bob's legacy endures not only through his professional and community contributions but in a myriad of personal memories. A dynamic personality, he was cherished by those who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at Tower Grove Park in September, with details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. The National Body Donor Program is assisting with arrangements, reflecting Bob's continued commitment to beneficial societal contributions even after his passing.

Dear Sandy and the LaRouche family, I was fortunate to have had Bob as an instructor more than 30 years ago. He had an influence on my work, my photography. He had a profound influence on how I see the work. I will be forever grateful to his instruction via his classes I attended. I admire Bob as a teacher and mentor. Occasionally Bob had spoke of his family and had met Sandy just once, a very lovely person at heart. Bless you all. Those he had touched are lucky to have had his presence. Marian Morris

I was privileged to work with Bob when I was a music critic at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in the mid-80s and through the 1990s. We also crossed paths at Webster University, where he taught photography. Bob was a remarkable, one-of-a-kind man. He was loved by ALL.
