Robert Lawrence Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 19, 2011.
Robert Allen Lawrence Robert Allen Lawrence, loving husband and father, age 62, passed away August 16, 2011. Robert was born October 9, 1948, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Reverend C.J. Lawrence (preceded in death) and Martha McCorkle Lawrence. In his early adult years, Robert served on the Dallas Police Force and as a USNR for 8 years during the Vietnam era. A Baylor University Alumni, Robert spent most of his life in Texas and California pursuing his love of writing and photography and producing many published books, magazines, and articles. An avid motorcycle rider, he enjoyed taking road trips with his soulmate and wife who he met at the age of 20 and she was 16. He adored playing with his grandchildren and his puppy companions. One of his greatest accomplishments was to share the Good News with those who were searching for God. Robert touched the lives of so many with his loving kindness and wonderful sense of humor, and we will forever be grateful for his time with us all. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kari Wilson Lawrence; mother Martha Lawrence Hill; brother Mark Lawrence; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy & Lance Haverda; and grandsons Majeston & Talan Haverda. Special thanks to our family members and the staff at Bremond Nursing & Rehab Care Center for the countless hours of care they provided to making Robert's last days as peaceful and comfortable as possible. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 20, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Smith Family Chapel at Riverbend Church, 4214 Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX 78746. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.

Kari and Wendy . . . I am saddened to hear of Robert's passing, and know this loss leaves a giant void in your hearts. Robert was my dear friend. I am fortunate that we shared an unshakable faith as we
labored together to accelerate awareness of the true life and teachings of Jesus. I join you in grieving Robert's premature departure. I am also confident we will have a joyful reunion "on the other side." Bless you.

Kari and family,

Gordon and I are so sorry about Robert. He certainly was a wonderful guy. I will never forget the time he played the role of Jesus in our musical. What a presence he was!
We are out of town this weekend but our prayers are with you and family.
