Robert Lewis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 18, 2025.
Robert Neil Lewis, 90, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025 in Rochester, New York after a brief illness. Born on December 22, 1934 in Fulton, New York, Robert lived a full and meaningful like marked by dedication to family, hard work and enduring friendships.

Robert earned a bachelor's and master's degree from Syracuse University. As a young man, he worked alongside his father in the family's tree surgeon business.

After relocating to Rochester, NY in 1965, he began a long and successful career with Xerox Corporation, where he worked for 32 years. His professional life was characterized by loyalty and perseverance.

Robert was devoted to his family. He shared a loving marriage with his late wife, Joan M. Lewis, whom he cherished above all else. Together they raised three sons: Robert J Lewis, Glenn B. Lewis and Clinton A. Lewis. Though Clinton preceded him in death, Robert's legacy continues though his surviving sons and their families.

He is remembered with love by his sons Robert and Glenn, daughter-in-law Margaret Lewis; and grandchildren Robert A. Lewis, Matthew C. Lewis, Colin A. Lewis and Claire A. Lewis.

He is survived by two brothers, Leigh and Harold Lewis and predeceased by sister Sandra Lewis.

Outside of work and family life, Robert had a great interest in archaeology and history-interests that reflected his inquisitive mind and appreciation for the past. He also maintained lifelong ties with many friends he met while in elementary and high school in Syracuse.

Robert's memory will bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a reminder of a life well lived- rooted in love, generosity, and enduring bonds.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.
