Robert Lindig Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 21, 2016.
Robert Ostenberg Lindig died peacefully on Feb. 1, 2016 after a long illness. Born June 19, 1936 in New York City, his early years were spent in Great Neck and Sands Point, Long Island, New York. Bob graduated from Buckley Country Day School '50, The Choate School '54, Dartmouth College '58 and the Columbia School of Business where he received his MBA. His family had banking roots in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and while working on Wall Street, he discovered Municipal Bonds and felt very lucky to make that passion his career. He worked with banks in Oregon, Washington, and Alaska before coming to Denver in the early 1970's. He started the Denver Westcore Colorado Tax Exempt Bond Fund at First Interstate Bank (Wells Fargo) and completed his banking career at Denver Investment Advisors. He was also an owner of Hamilton Manufacturing Corporation in Holland, Ohio. Bob loved to travel and delighted in adventure, history, and nature. After his 1992 marriage to Carolyn Fineran, the couple traveled extensively searching for textiles and jewelry for her store, Tapestry in Cherry Creek North. Kauai, Hawaii and Grand Lake, Colorado were his favorite getaways and his great curiosity made him at home anywhere in the world. The pair also renovated a late 1800's Bakery in her hometown of Mandeville, Louisiana earning The Bakery a listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Bob is survived by his wife of 24 years, Carolyn Fineran, his son Robert O. Lindig II and his grandchildren, Aurora, Noah, Eddy, and Beorn, all of Montana, his sister Karyn Sherwood, Scottsdale, Arizona and West Glacier, Montana, and step son, Jon Fineran Solomon, Denver, Colorado. Also survived by Nephews Christopher Sherwood, Sheridan, Wyoming and George Sherwood of Glen Cove, L. I., New York, extended family and many friends around the world. Special thanks to caregivers Cheryl Raney, Jan Holmes, Barbara Lamb, JoEllen Greenwood and the staff at Sunrise Cherry Creek and Peak Center at Craig Hospital. He enjoyed his life to the fullest until the end. His determination, integrity, kindness and loving spirit continues to inspire those who love him. That wonderful smile remains in our hearts forever. A celebration of his life and 80th birthday will take place on June 18, 2016. The family asks that memorial donations go to www.give.psp.com to help find cures for progressive brain diseases.

His Story reaches far and with depth, to all the Family , Friends and the People he reached with love , kindness and wisdom. I have read his Obituary several times. Each time a new spark ignites to the life he shared with his wife Carolyn Fineran. Their travels brought them around the world and her eyes lit up every time she spoke of a treasure they acquired , symbolizing a rich memory of a life lovingly shared. Visiting Robert (Bob) with Carolyn in recent times, I saw their treasured love for each other. It is an honor to have met him. Kindly Kate Wegrzyn
