Bob was a true and loving friend; the best there is. Bob's enthusiasm for railroading was infectious; his stories of photographing trains, especially during the steam era, were entertaining and educational. Bob's creative mind produced some of the most colorful paint schemes for real trains like the Preamble Express and Chessie Steam Special. Bob's understated sense of humor kept us in stiches, he always found the subtle humor in daily life. Valerie and I have treasured our friendship with Bob and Bea, sharing great adventures with High Iron, Preamble Express, Freedom Train, and Chessie Steam Special excursions, and all through the years after. Of all of his accomplishments, Bob was most immensely proud of his family. We miss Bob, but find comfort knowing he is in a better world, where steam reigns king, and there is plenty of blank canvas on which to paint.

I have fond memories of my family's time in Fremont visiting Dad's favorite cousin Uncle Bob. He was wonderful to be around and Dad especially would look forward to our visits. At least one of Bob's beautiful train illustrations was always on display at home.

Bob was a kind and talented gentleman who offered his expertise in railroad history to me many times. Will miss him.

Bob was a true gentleman, a patriot and a great train lover. He was also an exceptionally talented illustrator whose favorite subject was his beloved steam locomotives.
His talents added greatly to the visual appeal of the many special trains he designed the graphics for especially the American Freedom Train which played a major role in America's bicenntennial celebration.
Bob will be deeply missed by his many friends and devoted fans.
