Robert MacKinnon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 9 to Jul. 10, 2010.
NORTH TRURO – Robert H. MacKinnon, 74, of North Truro, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010, in Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis.

Retired partner at Sheaman and Sterling, LLC., Bob was a respected leader and global legal practitioner. He was admired for his strong client relationships, outstanding negotiating skills and results-oriented focus. During his long tenure at the firm, Bob worked on significant transactions, including the restructuring of the Penn Central Railroad Guangdong Enterprises, and the reorganization of Daewoo and Southmark Corporation.

Passionate about the practice of law, Bob was a mentor to many of his firm’s current partners. He was active as a lecturer for the American law Institute, the Practicing Law Institute, and various client education seminars. A graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School, he was a longtime trustee of the Northfield Mount Hermon School, which he attended as a boy.

Bob is survived by his wife Ilse, his daughter Elizabeth Henrici, his stepchildren Chase and Peter Livingston, and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family has requested that any contributions in Bob’s memory be sent to the American Heart Association, or to the American Heart Association Memorial, 1 Union Street, Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691. Ilse,
Betty sent Bob's obituary. So sorry to hear about his death.
We had many good times with the two of you while Larry was still living, out to dinner and on the beach. Glad we had a chance to meet him. Take good care of yourself. Sent with love, Lorrie

I only know Bob's daughter Elizabeth, who is a wonderful individual. Therefore he must have had many excellent qualities which he contributed to make her the person she is.

Bob was exceptional in his field of law, a passionate supporter of education and the arts, and one of the most generous individuals I have ever known.
I can see him yet - his glasses halfway down his nose, eyes twinkling with wit, entreating Chase to make her famous pea soup...

I will miss you, Bear.

Margaret and I would like to send Bob's family our deepest condolences.
I had the honor and pleasure of serving on the Board of Payomet Performing Arts Center in Truro with Bob MacKinnon both while I was the Managing Artistic Director several years ago, to the present day, now in the Theatre's 12th year.
His even-tempered judgement, wise business counsel, continuing cheerfulness and sense of humor proved inspiring to all of us. He was of invaluable help and remained one of Payomet's most steadfast supporters in its planning for the furture providing a genuine contribution to the cultural fabric of Truro and the community at large. He will be sorely missed.
