Rob was one of the greatest guys any of us will know. I had the priviledge of being a friend since the mid-70s. He helped me get my start in the TV business. I'd hang out with Rob in the BCTV newsroom and even bring my friends by. He taught me how to write news with crisp, short sentences and cut-out excess wording. The calm, cool, collected man also had a laugh which was warm and friendly. He loved golf and sports and we all have memories of his sparring with McKeach. It's something everyone in TV Land would wait for. It was more interesting than the news or sports. Thanks for the beers we'd pick-up and drink Roberino and the conversations we'd have been gulps. My deepest sympathies got out to to Maxime and all the family. He's truly missed. By me especially.

I worked with Robert and his TV pal, John McKeachie, for only a short time, and Robert was kind, accommodating, and funny as heck. I am reminded of how his sincere words of encouragement meant so much to me. Thanks, Robert. My sincere condolences to Mr. Malcolm's family, and many friends.

Great memories of working with Rob at BCTV and all the social fun we had together. His sense of humor was as good as his news sense and delivery. Rob will be really missed by Ann and I and all the great folks we knew back then.

Although we didn't know Robert, we have known Peter for many years and are sorry to hear he has lost a sibling. If Robert was anything like Peter, he was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor and an inquiring mind.

Forty eight years ago Rob and I were playing the "Golden Sounds" at CKDA Radio in Victoria. He was the helpful old pro .. three years my senior. One vivid recollection is when we put a very large dent in his Volkswagen Bug one night. It was an new and young world. Kind regards to all those close to him

Rob and I were Scout leaders in New Westminster many years ago. We sat up many a night playing old 45's and talking over the odd beer plotting the next outing. One of our outings was to take the boys canoing down stave lake to Glacier bay. All went well out but back the next day big storm. e made it to a cabin where the owner warmed us up with hot coco. Then offered to tow us down the lake. Which he did. Boys in the boat and Rob and I in the canoe. Rob was in the stern, when the tow started the stern dropped below the water then popped up. There was Rob Bailing like mad with one of the frying pans ( I have pictures). Rob and I laughed all the way down the lake. What memories. I am sad to hear of his passing and would like to pass on my condolences from and old Scout.
