Richard Davidson, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 28, 2022.

Richard H. Davidson, Jr. (Ricky), a lifetime resident of East Point, GA, passed away unexpectedly at work on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 68.

Ricky was born on December 23, 1953 to Richard and Catherine Davidson.  He is survived by his wife, Marla “Gail” Davidson, his sister, Deanna Ferrell, his sister-in-law, Patricia Livingston, his niece, Ashley Kristen Ferrell and great nieces and a great nephew.

Ricky worked as a generator technician at Cummins for 32 years and had many friends and co-workers working with him.  As almost everyone could testify, he had a memory “like an elephant”.  Co-workers at Cummins were always amazed that Ricky could give specific locations, part numbers, etc for most Cummins generators in Atlanta and surrounding areas.  As testimony to his memory, he could also quote lines from movies he’d seen years ago and verses from many songs.  His many interests included traveling with his wife of 30 years, cruising and photography.

A memorial service (with no viewing) will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 12 pm - 3 pm.  It will be held at the Donehoo-Lewis Funeral Home located in Hapeville, GA. 404-761-2171

All are welcome.

We are so saddened at the sudden death of Ricky. He had an amazing knowledge of his job and was excellent at what he did. His customers were more than just customers but friends also. We’re going to miss our Annual Christmas lunch around his birthday but have great memories to hold. Our thoughts are with you and praying for God’s comfort during this difficult time.

I knew Ricky from Childhood. He was opinionated, but kind. Very skilled at whatever he put his mind or his hands to. He and his family were longtime residents in Jefferson Park, East Point: They were cornerstones of our community. My regrets are that I did not keep in touch with Ricky as the years went by. He will be greatly missed by me and my family.
My love and prayers for all his family and friends.
