ROBERT ELIAS MCAFEE

Robert Elias McAfee, 88, of Sabillasville, MD, passed away peacefully Monday, January 16, 2023, at his home.

Born, July 5, 1934, he was the son of the late Robert Hunter McAfee, and Minnie Nora DeLauter, of Foxville, Md.

Rob farmed all his life, worked for 18 years as a maintenance/carpenter worker for the State of Maryland. He was a lifetime member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, South Mountain Rod and Gun Club, Waynesboro Fish and Game Club, Blue Ridge Sportsmen Club, and Thurmont Grange.

Rob was a kind, gracious, selfless, humble soul, who had an unwavering and unbeatable work ethic, not only towards his work, but every aspect of his life. He was a friend to everyone he met.

Rob was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy McAfee, children; Robin Portner (Robert), Barbara Grove, and Jeffrey McAfee (Karen), 6 grandchildren; Rebecca, Megan, Jeremy, Joshua, Ashley, and Justin, 9 great-grandchildren; Sadie, Hannah, Caleb, Evelyn, Hailey, Elias, Wyatt, Nora, and Tess. He had numerous brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, and two special friends Ed Brown and Dale Hurley. In addition to his parents, Rob was preceded in death by his brother; James McAfee, sister; Mary Louise Clabaugh, son-in-law; Jerry Grove, Aunt; Sadie DeLauter, and he is the last of the twenty 1st cousins.

A viewing will be held at Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, Foxville, MD, on Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Funeral service will be Friday, January 20, 2023, at 11:00 am, at the church, family will receive friends one hour prior. The service will be officiated by Pastor Julie Brigham and Pastor Andrew Brown with interment following at Browns Cemetery.
