Robert McCAIG Obituary

Published by Windsor Star on Jul. 20, 2015.
McCAIG, Robert "Bob"
It is with great sadness that the family of Robert McCaig announces his passing on July 16, 2015 in his 86th year. He was preceded by his wife, Margaret (2014). They had celebrated 60 years of marriage. Bob will be forever remembered by his children, Rob and Louise McCaig of Zug, Switzerland and Sandi and Bill Eansor of London, Ontario. Loving Papa to Alec and Ian McCaig, Meghan, Ashley and Billy Eansor. He leaves his sister, Etta Rodger of Kilwinning, Scotland, many nieces and nephews and numerous close friends. Bob was born in Burnbank, Scotland. After serving in the Royal Navy, he had the opportunity to move to Windsor, Canada. In 1955, he began his career with the Ford Motor Company as a mechanical engineer. He retired from the company, in 1991, as a superintendent at the Essex Engine Plant. He was a longtime member of the Windsor Curling Club, the Canadian Anglo Club, Windsor Yacht Club and enjoyed a great many get-togethers with friends at the Scottish society and Sportsman Club. He was also a life member of the Thistle and Rose Masonic Lodge #169, Stevenston, Scotland. Bob was an avid golfer and a huge fan of curling. As per Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the Walter D. Kelly Life Celebration Centre (519-252-5711) on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. The service will be held on July 24, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

A quick wit and terrific sense of humour. When Bob giggled it was always infectious. His loyalty to his friends and family were beyond reproach. A proud Scotsman who never forgot his roots.. Robbie Burns quote so befits Robert McCaig "an honest man is the noblest work of God".

Robert me boy, I'm gonna miss you. You were always of the best spirit even in spite of the condition you were in. I'll miss your stories of the Ford days and the characters you had to deal with, always good for a hearty laugh.

Your woodworking and train and boat models were a great example of your creative spirit. Too bad your computer skills weren't as up to snuff but then again, I would have never had the opportunity to meet you and Maggie!

Maggie has you now and knowing that, I'm content.

Goodbye good friend,

From all of the Ruffilli's, our sincere condolences on the loss of Mr. McCaig. We loved to learn of his passion for golf and curling,(a true Scot!), which we understand was only exceeded by his love and passion for his wife and children. He was so kind to have given his "hole in one" tie to our son Rob!
