Robert McDermott Obituary
He was born on September 18, 1925 in Vermilion, Ohio.
Robert graduated from Griswald Academy in Cleveland and attended Paul Smith College in New York and LCCC in Elyria. He worked at the Lake Placid Resort Hotel while operating McDermott's Bed and Breakfast, Saranac Lake, N.Y. with his wife, Audrey. Upon returning to the area he worked at U.S. Steel, Lorain, Ohio. Following retirement from U.S. Steel in 1986, Robert and his wife, Audrey enjoyed spending their winters at Saddlebrook Resort, Tampa, Fla.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Audrey G. (nee: Pawlizak) McDermott; sisters, Ruth Smith of Lorain, Ohio, Elizabeth Hahansch of Dayton, Ohio and Carolyn Hiss of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Caroline (nee: Graham) McDermott; and brother, Eugene McDermott.
The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, Ohio (440) 244-1961 on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM with funeral services following at the funeral home at 5:00 PM with Rev. Gerald J. Keller, officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp., Ohio.
Memorial donations may be sent to Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Rd., Lorain, OH 44053.
