Robert McSherry Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 10, 2025.
Robert Paul "Bob" McSherry, age 71, passed away on April 22, 2025, in Delray Beach, Florida, after a brief illness.

Born on April 12, 1954, in Natick, Massachusetts, Bob was the beloved son of the late Paul and Ruth McSherry of Abington, MA. He is survived by his devoted sisters, Joanne Becker and her late husband Steven Becker of St. Mary's, Georgia and Janet Brems and her husband Michael of Buzzard's Bay, Massachusetts. He also leaves behind his cherished nephews: Terence Brems and his wife Emily of Milton, MA; Jeffrey Brems and his wife Corinne of Mansfield, MA; Andrew and Heather Brems of Kingston, MA; and Matthew Becker of Connecticut. He is also survived by his former wife, Dawn McSherry, with whom he remained close until the end.

"Uncle Bob" had a special bond with his great-nieces and nephews, Marissa, Kevin, Brian, Drew, Ainsleigh, Keegan and Bennett, and he treasured the time spent with them.

A graduate of Abington High School, Abington, MA. Bob began his career with New England Telephone before working at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy, MA. When the shipyard downsized, Bob seized the opportunity to retrain as an Electronic Technician. His technical skills and dedication led him to positions at the Foxboro Company and the Polaroid Company. He concluded his career with distinction at Engie (now Constellation), where he played a key role in the offloading of LNG tankers in Everett, Massachusetts.

After retiring, Bob relocated to Delray Beach, Florida, where he embraced the sunshine and spent many joyful days golfing with friends, including his lifelong friend of over sixty years, John Mazzarella. He was an active member of the Kings Point Men's Golf League and formed many lasting friendships within the community.

In addition to golf, Bob enjoyed riding his Harley and spending time fishing-activities that brought him peace and joy throughout his life.

Bob will be remembered for his quiet strength, deep loyalty to family, and his love of golf, the open road, and good company.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

It´s hard to know what to write...these last couple of months were a time of getting to know you all over again . Even while you battled the monster inside, you were funny, strong and brave. We reminisced about old times, and I learned so much more about you! I´m missing you right now, but I know we´ll see each other again. Love you, my big little brother

Bob, You were such a big part of our family for many years. I will always remember when you and Dawn took Amanda and I in and helped me get back on my feet. We had some great times. Praying you are at peace now.
Praying that your family finds some peace during this difficult time!
Love always Denise

I only knew Bob the last 6 years or so. But I knew him to be a kind steady friend. The only other Irish guy in our crew is gone. RIP Brother
