Henry Floyd Smith Sr.

(Oct. 21, 1919 - May 2, 2013) Henry Floyd Smith, Sr., 93, of Hemphill, died Thursday morning in the Castle Pines Health and Rehab Center, Lufkin. Floyd was born in Geneva, Texas, to Henry Acie and Mary Elva Murphy Smith. Floyd retired as Post Master of the Hemphill Post Office, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Hemphill Post of the V.F.W. Floyd was also a member of the Sexton Lodge in Milam and the First Baptist Church in Hemphill. He is survived by his sons, Henry Smith, Jr. and his wife Nora of Panama City, Panama, Ronald Wayne Smith and his wife Linda Joy of Lufkin, Paul Smith and his wife Cathy of Austin, Richard Smith and his wife Tammie of Hemphill; his daughters, Anette Tompkins and her husband Larry of Lufkin and Linda Jo Sigler and her husband James of Hemphill; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Jo Burleson of San Augustine and his sister-in-law, Vernie Smith of Weatherford. Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Smith. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2013, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Geneva, Texas.
