Rev. Robert G. "Bob" Muirhead, age 85, peacefully went to be with his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. He was born in Hayti, Missouri on April 4, 1937, the son of Jesse H. and Rosie (Matheny) Muirhead. Known as "Pastor Bob" began ministerial training at North Central Bible College, Minneapolis, MN, then Central Bible College, Springfield, Missouri. His pastorates began in 1959 in Michigan, where he served the Assemblies of God church in: St. Louis, Saline, Warren, Battle Creek, St. Clair Shores, and returned to Battle Creek to pastor in 2001 the Fairfax Community Baptist Church and currently the Fort Custer Christian Assembly. He did pastor one church out of state, New Life Assembly in 1983-1984 Lancaster, PA. Additionally for a number of years served the Michigan Assemblies of God Headquarters Office as the presbyter of the southwest Michigan area. Later he was one of three state executive presbyters. Bob married the "Love of His Life", Frances Darlene Keltner on June 22, 1957. This year they celebrated their 65th anniversary. He is also survived by sons, Rev. Dr. Mark and Laurie Muirhead of Pinehurst, NC; Michael C. Muirhead of Battle Creek; and Rev. Randy and Lori DonGiovanni of Byron Center, MI; three grandsons, Alexander and wife Amber Muirhead of Celina, Texas; Andrew and Geridan Muirhead, both of Battle Creek; and one great- granddaughter, Maylin Muirhead of Celina, Texas. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Bartalone; and a brother, Kenneth Muirhead. Through the years his favorite childhood song remained, "Blessed Assurance". His booming baritone voice was well known, many would remark he sounded like the famous vocalist Robert Goulet! His hobbies were going with his wife to "bed and breakfast hotels" having personal retreats in Shipshewana, Indiana. Also, his love for 'meatloaf' would take him to Arlene's Truck Stop, Lux's Restaurant, and any Cracker Barrell location! He recorded leading and speaking at well over 200 funeral services working with the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Homes where he is affectionately known by the staff over the years as, "The Speaker of the House". An "Appreciation and Memorial Gathering" will be held at the Fort Custer Christian Assembly at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 3rd until 1:00 p.m. Then a one-hour memorial will begin at 1:30pm. Then on Sunday, 10:30 a.m., December 4th the morning service will be a "Celebration of Life" in honor of Pastor Muirhead. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Fort Custer Christian Assembly, Battle Creek, MI; Friends Forever Missionary Fellowship, P.O. Box 2001, Pinehurst, NC 28370; or Randy Don Ministries, 8190 Landstar Dr, Byron Center, MI 49315. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek. A wonderful pastor, has been a part of our family for many years. Remembering the family in prayer, as we also rejoice that we will see him again along with our Savior and King.
