Hey Dad, I know I haven't wrote in a good bit, and I'm sorry for that. Life's not been easy without you, there's so much I wish I could've asked, so much I wish you could've seen. I worry every day that I can't live up to who you would want me to be, and that everything I do may go against the plans you had for me. It's beginning to get harder and harder for me to find a reason to get up in the morning, and sleep is becoming more elusive. Every day I find myself questioning the truths of this world and my god I wish you were here to help guide me. There's a void where a good amount of my heart should be, and that's because a lot of me died with you. I'm in Highschool now, and when I go back after summer I'll be a sophomore. I hold my head up knowing that you would want me to, since I know you wouldn't want me to be down. A lot of mistakes line my path, but I promise you I'll change in order to make you proud. You mean the world to me, and I'd give up everything I have now if it meant getting to see you again. I promise you, I will make sure to live my life to the best of my abilities and then some for you, and I will hold my head up and look forward at the road before me, and no matter what difficulties I may see on that road, I will face them all with a smile, knowing that my Dad, even if he can't be there for me, will always be by my side. You may not be here with me Dad, but my God you're always gonna be in my thoughts when I make my decisions. Your son, who loves you more than can possibly be explained, Taylor Mullins

Dear Robby,
Tomorrow night will be a year since your death. Losing you is the hardest thing I have ever tried to deal with. I miss you so much! You were my first born child, my baby. I have loved you since before you were born and I will always love you. You were such a fine young man--a wonderful son, brother, and father. I have always been very proud of you.
We shared a sense of humor, and a love for reading, writing, and music. I miss talking to you, laughing with you. I wish I could hug you one more time. I will love you always and forever.
Love,
Mom

Dear Taylor,
Please remember that your Daddy loved you very much and he will always love you. He was so proud of his little boy and still is. If he could, Dadddy would tell you so and he would give you hugs and kisses. He would hold and comfort you and tell you that he misses you. I know you miss your Daddy a whole lot. We all do. And, I miss you, too.
I wish we could see you more often. We really enjoyed having you with us for awhile last summer. Be a good boy and you will grow up to be a fine young man like your daddy. You remind me so much of Robby. Taylor, I love you very much and I always will. Don't ever forget that. I hope to see you soon. Kisses and Hugs!!

Love,
Mommom

Robby is my nephew, and words can't express how much he meant to me and to all the people whose lives he touched. Robby loved his work, but more than anything he loved his family and friends. He truly knew what was important in this life.

Taylor, I want you to know that your Daddy loved you with all his heart. He was totally devoted to you and wanted nothing more than see you grow up to be a fine young man. You will be a great man like your Daddy because even though he is no longer with us, he is still in our hearts, and he will always be with you, watching over you, loving, and protecting you. You have a Guardian Angel in Heaven, and that is your Daddy. Robby would still be with you if he could.

When I think of Robby I think of the following little poem:

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I love you so much, Robby!

Robby, you are more than any man I've ever met. You weren't just family, you were a friend, especially when I needed one. I will never forget our adventures nor will I ever forget our goals. It's so hard to capture the right words to even describe what you've done in life. My life and I'm sure over 100's of lives were devistated when you left us. It doesn't seem right, I don't think I'll ever make sense of it. You were my strength in during the hardest times of my life. I miss you Rob... I love you, you were a brother to me. You kept this family together and alive. All I can think of now is how you're still keeping this family together and happy. I could go on for days on your accomplishments in life. What you've done for this entire country, and still able to raise a son without a worry in the world. I hope one day I can be a father like you. I hope I can be a man like you, Rob... Until we meet again and continue our quest for the perfect story, you'll be missed everyday... I love you Rob. You were the grooviest guy I ever knew.

Robby was introduced to my daughters & me through my good friend, Betty-Ann, who is Robby's aunt. My daughters & I began writing Robby while he was on his first tour in Iraq. We were so proud to befriend a brave young man who served our country. No more than I knew about Robby, he struck me as a dedicated, selfless person who had dreams to become a writer. Our lives were touched with his limited presence in our lives via the inky trail, but he will forever live in our hearts. May God bless the entire family. Our thoughts & prayers have been on you these many weeks now.

I am a member of the department of military affairs in Lexington, KY.
I did not know Robby but it saddens me greatly anytime we lose one of our own and espeically someone so young.
I was born in Bristol, Va. and grew up in Bristol, Tn. so I am very familiar with Wise, Va. I also lived in Glade Spring, Va. many years ago.
My heart goes out to the family and my prayers are with all who knew Robby.
May God keep you in his care at this difficult time.

Mullins was one of my best friends and I will truly miss him. He was definitely the person that everyone wants to be and there will never be anyone like him. Rest peacefully my friend and I am sure that we will see each other at the end. To the family hold on to the only things that you could possibly have about Mullins, great memories. God Bless you all.

Rob, I want to thank you for being a good daddy to Taylor. He is a joy to be with and I know your missing his kissies. Just know that I will do my best to give him as many as he will take from his meme. You will be missed greatly. I am so glad you got to be with Taylor as much as you were able to. Thank you for helping to shape him into a fine young man.

Robby Mullins was a beautiful human being, a gift from God. He was a loving father, son and friend. He was a compassionate, kind and loving soul. His soft spoken manner and charming shyness was endearing. He was a hard working, and dedicated Soldier who always looked out for his comrades. Sorrow fills our heart as we say good bye to Robby or rather "until we meet again." God has called Robby home but we are grateful and blessed for having known him. We love you Robby and we'll miss you. Thank you for the memories, smiles and laughter.

Robby was a very special and unique person. I met him through the Upward Bound Program at UVA Wise. He was one of the nicest and hardest working students I have ever taught. I enjoyed keeping up with his progression through the years. Robby was a wonderful writer, but he is especially to be commended for his service to his country. My deepest sympathy to his family in this great loss.
