I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the Mungin family. Brother Mungin was a true support to all that knew him. I appreciate the conviction and encouragement that he displayed with our children's education. He worked very hard to find scholarship funds for my son's higher education. For that and his other gestures, I say thanks! I remember the encouragement that he extended to the children of Sixth Mount Zion with their academics. All of his works did not go unnoticed and will not be forgotten. God's warmth to his family during this difficult time. Even though we are saints of God, death is still difficult. Rest easy Brother Mungin. Peace and blessing to the family.

Many will speak of greatness to describe the man he was
And none will have cause, want or need to have lied
As he truly was one we were blessed to know and have loved
So let not tears be wasted on a vessel that only housed the reverent spirit, which certainly has not died

A physical presence no longer visible, as well the calm of his voice no longer heard
Still he will always be with us, forever comfortingly lodged in our heart
A teacher to us as children, and allowed us as adults be thought a friend
Such relationship so thoroughly bonded will not be put asunder or even in death be taken apart

Words can not express our sadness in hearing the news of Mr. Mungin's death. His reputation as a Pittsburgh Public School teacher and administrator was one to live up to. We needed heroes like him. People who encouraged those who worked with populations many had and tried to give up on. Mr. Mungin had a wonderful gift to be able to impact everyone he met. Not only had he been a role model for me in the field of Education but also my daughter. His time spent at Holy Rosary School as a Counselor kept the encouragement going to African-American students. Mr. Mungin's reach extended to our children even in his retirement. It made such a difference to have his presence in the school and then to have had her join him again; becoming a member of Sixth Mt. Zion Church where he served as a Deacon. His broad, bright smile beamed with pride at her joining his church. I will always remember Mr. Mungin's encouraging advocacy. To Mrs. Gloria Mungin and family, thank you for sharing such a great man with us. Mr. Mungin's presence, advocacy, and Christian influence will never be forgotten by the White-Taylor Family. Keeping you all in prayer, Krista, Bettina, Chris, and Cayke.

On behalf of the Class of 1963 of the former Fifth Avenue High School, we would like to send our sincere condolences to the family.

I never had him as a teacher, however, he was one of the many teachers and faculty who was loved by all students.

Even after 51 years (for our class) his memory and influence still is as fresh as it was during our years at Fifth Avenue. He will be dearly missed as having had a positive influence on the lives of many.
