Obituary for Robert Yost (Bob) Muse

September 29, 1929 - December 28, 2024

Robert Yost Muse, 95, was born on September 29, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri. He passed away at his daughter, Suzie's, home in Leawood, Kansas on December 28, 2024, surrounded by family.

Bob was the second son of Claude M. Muse and Emma Louise Yost. He grew up in Missouri during the Great Depression, learning the value of hard work and perseverance early in life. Bob was a United States Army veteran and was stationed at both Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was proud of his service and was honorably discharged in 1953.

He went on to work at Marley Company, where he spent 45 years and achieved a management level position, building a reputation for his dedication, skill, and strong work ethic. Bob provided stability for his children as they grew, and in retirement he enjoyed every chance to be with his family. You could always find him at a family gathering with a glass of red wine, watching the Kansas City Chiefs on TV with Suzie's dogs in his lap.

In 1977 Bob married the love of his life, Edie. Bob and Edie were not just partners in marriage, they were buddies. They enjoyed many years together making a home, enjoying their condo at the lake, wintering in S. Padre Island, and of course, fishing, which they both greatly enjoyed until Edie's passing in 2015.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edith C. Muse, his cherished daughter, Patricia Diane Dotson, and his older brother, Charles. He is survived by his daughters, Bobbie Ann Birdsall (Jim), Suzanne Elaine Muse (Scott Totty), stepson Mike Phillips (Jane), eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He made friends easily and will never be forgotten.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1111 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore, Mo. 64083 on January 18th, 2025, at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that monetary or blood donations be made to The American Red Cross.

Bob's legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will live on in all who had the privilege to know him. He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered.

Bob lived with us here at The Madison Senior Living and his smile was just so contagious! We sure miss him here and our first Happy Hour without him we could feel the void. Serving dry red wine will never feel the same. Love you Bob!

My Uncle was has the best. His love for his family was apparent and a blessing. I can only thank the Lord for allowing me the opportunity to spend time with him during the last couple of years of his life. I will cherish this for the rest of my of my life.

I am so sorry for your loss. I only "knew" Bob through Bobbie but he was obviously a good man and a good Dad. You all made such a positive impact in his life and you should feel good about that. Sending heart felt wishes to you all.

Uncle Bob will be truly missed! I am grateful I was able to see him for his 95th birthday celebration! I wish I could have been raised as a child to have known him growing up! He was a gentle soul with a great heart and a great sense of humor and humility! Love Donda Muse

I've had the pleasure of hearing many stories of love for Bob & entire family. It was a great joy to spend time with him & family in conversation at Corey's wedding. My condolences to family and prayers for you at this time. Cousin George
