Myers, Robert Clay, Age 64, died Dec. 22, in Nashville TN. Born on Feb. 23rd, 1947 in Oak Ridge, TN and raised in Knoxville, he was the son of George Banton and Evelyn Clay Smither Myers. He is survived by wife Mary Kennerly Myers, sons Wes (Erin) Myers and Robert Myers, grandchildren Natalie and Bennett Myers, brother Gary Myers, and sister Melanie Myers. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Tennessee and was an educator in the Nashville Metropolitan Schools for 37 years as a teacher, coach, assistant principal at McGavock High School, and executive principal at Hillwood and Hunters Lane High Schools. He was selected Administrator of the Year by Metropolitan Nashville Association of Educational Certified Personnel (1995), Tennessee Environmental Education Association's Middle Tennessee Administrator of the Year (1997), Nashville Alliance for the Mentally Ill's Educator of the Year (2000), Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association's Principal of the Year in Middle Tennessee (2006), and twice selected High School Principal of the Year in Metro (2006, 2008). He was inducted into Nashville Coaches Football and Basketball Halls of Fame. He was an avid bicyclist, traveler, and outdoor enthusiast who embraced life. He was kind, selfless, and treated others with respect. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church (3701 Hillsboro Pike 37215) where a memorial service will be held on Jan. 5th, at 4 pm with visitation at 2 pm and afterward. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Warner Park (50 Vaughn Rd 37221) or Calvary.
