Robert Oelschlager Obituary

Robert P. 'Bob' Oelschlager, 86, of Alexandria, Va., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008. He was born in Monessen in 1922, a son of the late Frank and Mary (Brettschneider) Oelschlager. Bob bravely served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, he worked for more than 35 years for Westinghouse Electric on control systems for power plants. In his free time, he could most likely be found golfing, enjoying classical music, or playing bridge. Long-time residents of Wooster, Ohio, Bob and his late wife, Bea, also spent many winters in Fort Myers, Fla. He is survived by his caring children: Bob and Jack Oelschlager, of Alexandria, Va., and Claire Williams, of Bay Village, Ohio; his grandchildren: John, Mike, and Sean Oelschlager and Scott Williams; and one brother: James Oelschlager, of Beaver. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Bea, on Jan. 22, 2005. Burial, with Military Honors, will take place in Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at 3 p.m., followed by a reception at the home of his son, Bob, at 5902 Mount Eagle Dr., No. 1208, Alexandria, Va. 22303. Arrangements are being handled by the DEMAINE FUNERAL HOME, 520 South Washington St., Alexandria, Va. (703-549-0074). In lieu of flowers and in accordance with Mr. Oelschlager's wishes, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to: Robert P. Oelschlager Trustee Scholarship in Engineering, Penn State Annual Fund, 17 Old Main, University Park, Pa. 16802.
