It is difficult to believe it has been 3 years since we lost the most amazing man and doctor. He is still spoken about so often in our home of the office visits over 51 years ago. If a child is sick, we will comment on what Dr. P would do or prescribe. He is still the standard by which we look at doctors. To this day we have yet to find a pediatrician {now for great grandchildren} that even comes close to his gift. He was an angel on earth and now he brightens heaven. You are dearly missed Dr. P.

I can't believe it has been almost 2 years since the world lost such an amazing man and doctor.
I took all my children to Dr. P and it is not an exggeration to say he was so brillant that he kept all three of my children from having serious health issues. His knowledge and care helped diagnose allergies, ear issues etc that other doctors had missed. My sister introduced me to him and it was the best referral .
I always felt he had all day to exam my children and explain what was the course of action.
He is the only doctor that my children were so happy to see squealed with excitment when he entered the room, even when they were sick.
He was truly one of a kind and I will forever be grateful that we had him as a doctor. I considered him a friend as well as our pediatrician.
Heaven gained a wonderful angel 2 years ago and we were all blessed by his life.
Thank you Dr. P

My 38yr old son, Damon, and I were just now reminiscing about his Pediatrician of many years (First visit in 1981). I only just now learned of Dr. Pauszek's passing. He was a kind, generous & brilliant being who was a pleasure to know. He was always accommodating to us at a moments notice & I was forever grateful. Our heartfelt condolences to Dr. Pauszek's family & countless friends. He is definitely missed & we will forever remember our hundreds of visits with Dr. P.❤

My memories of Dr. Pauzek, Kay and family go back almost 40 years. His daughter Mary and I shared time while attending Indiana University in Bloomington, and would spend many weekends with the Pauzek family in Indy. They may not remember me, but I have never forgotten about all of them. We meet people through our life journey that for whatever reason leave an indelible mark, and Dr. Pauzek and his family are some of those people.
This was 1980, and what stands out when looking back is just how the character of the family started with Dr. Pauszek. He was such a giving and loving man and very chill and laid back around the house. So easy to talk with and absolutely zero pretense. One other memory that comes to mind was when John Lennon was killed in New York and how it affected both Dr. Pauzek and Kay. They were both very sad, as we all were at the time, and they held a vigil to honor his memory. They went out into the woods behind their house with a blanket, food, drink, and Lennon's music, just to reflect on his life and pay homage. I thought it was so cool and moving that they would take the time to do that.
Of course my memories may be clouded by forty passing years, but I personally can't think of another example of a man that I know or have known, from my recollection and from others who shared their memories here, who is a better example of a life well lived in every way. My sincere condolences to the Pauzek family for their loss, but with hope of an appreciation for all who's lives were touched by a great man.

I just found out that he passed in March, I wanted the family to know what he meant to me. He was a wonderful person and a great doctor. I was a patient of his until I went to college. He always treated me with respect and honesty. When I was a small child I was very sick and Dr Pauszek did not charge my parents after so many visits to his office and the hospital. He told them to pay when they had the money.

No words can express how one man touched so many lives. In hearing about Dr. Pauszek's passing everyone I talked to knew him and all had such admiration for him. My first comment was of how he made me feel so confident being a new mom at 21, -I could do this!! So I went on to have 3 more! and all my visits made me feel like I was visiting a dear friend! My oldest son saw him up until he was in his 20"s. He refused to go to any other doctor and Dr. Pauszek told him you can come as long as you want to, said it was refreshing to see someone older sometimes so he'd sit in the waiting room with all the babies, lol! WoW to even imagine all the babies he cared for... all the stories here... again no words! My deepest compassion for his family at this time, Thanks to all of you for sharing this one-of-a "kind" man. Prayers are with you :-(

I woke up this morning thinking of Dr. Pauszek, and this is how I learned the news. I can't even put into words what he meant to my family, and my heart goes out to his grieving family. I started seeing Dr. Pauszek for my daughter in 1994, and never looked back!! He was there for three more babies that came along, and I remember the compassion he had when a bone weary, sleep deprived mother of four would walk in with a pack of sick kiddos. He always had a kind word, or encouragement, or pat on the shoulder. I had absolute faith in him, and he had absolute faith in me as a mother. I remember looking at him when my son was 3 years old, and saying " Dr. Pauszek, there is something wrong with my son" He never even hesitated...ordered tests, and sure enough, we ended up at Riley having surgery for a rare type of esophageal cyst. I remember crying after he retired because I could not find a doctor anywhere that could even come close to holding a candle to him. I felt lost and scared. My children and I have missed him so much in those years gone by. He always spoke of his family with much love and told many stories! Heaven has gained a beautiful soul. Please look down on us from time to time, Dr. Pauszek...we love you!! The Mardis Family

Today I became aware of Dr. Pausek's passing. Our prayers are with you and your family and share in your grief. We adopted Brian at the age of 13 mos. My sister referred us to Dr. Pausek because Brian was pre-mature and had severe respiratory issues along with allergies. Dr. Pausek made me feel that Brian was special to him. His incite and intuition along with his knowledge and gentle manner, not only made him a special person but a Doctor that you only find once in a lifetime. I had once told him that if he were to tell me that my son were dying, coming from him, would allow me to accept my son's fate. I know that may sound extreme to some, but I had that much faith and confidence in Dr. Pausek, knowing that he would have done everything that could possibly be done. When Brian turned 18, Dr. Pausek told him that as long as he felt comfortable, he could continue coming to him even at the age of 30. They say we are all unique in our own way. There are no others like Dr. Pausek.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr Pauszek's passing. My prayers are with his family. Dr. Pauszek was the most amazing doctor. He is credited with saving my son's life when he was just a week old. He admitted him into the hospital after another doctor had failed to see the critical condition he was in from a serious respiratory infection. He knew from just a phone call that his symptoms were so serious that he needed to go straight to emergency. He met us there at midnight and said it was a good thing we brought him in because we could have lost him if we had waited till morning . There was no other doctor that I ever met that was so amazing with his medical knowledge, his great bedside manner and his love of children . He was a firm believer that the first thing to do in intake was to get the mother's input. My children and I loved him and knew he would always greet us with his amazing smile.
Heaven gained an amazing man. Another angel is looking over the children.

What a sad day to hear of the loss of the beloved Dr. Pauszek. He took care of me and by siblings starting in the 1960s. I had the pleasure of taking my children to him until he retired. We have very fond memories of him and the genuine care he provided. He was someone we trusted like family. He was a kind, compassionate physician. He was truly amazing, one of a kind. I wish I had the opportunity to share what a positive impact he had on my family for generations. He will be missed. Condolences to the family.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr Pauszek's passing. He was my children's pediatrician back in 1974-1990's. He was a very special person, as well as a great doctor. In 1983, one of my children got leukemia. I was at his office and he told me that is what he thought my son had and that I needed to take him to Methodist Hospital right away. Immediately, I became very upset and crying uncontrollably. He wouldn't let me leave his office until he thought it was safe for me to drive to the hospital from 10th and Shadeland. (By the way, my son is now almost 38 years old) I will never forget that. Rest in Peace, Dr Pauszek.

Dear Mrs. Pauszek and family,
Please accept our condolences on the passing of Dr. Pauszek. I was privileged to be a patient of Dr. Pauszek's from birth until I turned 18. I have many memories of the original office on 10th street - the little glass sliding window that the nurse would open to call you back to the exam room, the swinging doors on the exam rooms, all of the fun posters and pictures, and many other things. Dr. Pauszek was such a kind and gentle man to all of his patients and their families. I remember hearing my mother tell of at least one occasion that our family did not have the office visit fee, and Dr. Pauszek told her, "Don't worry, Shirley, this is on the house". In today's society, that would never happen, and it just shows the compassion and heart of a servant that Dr. Pauszek had for everyone. His passion was caring for his patients and that was so evident in his practice. Once I got married, our kids were blessed to be able to be seen by Dr. Pauszek before he retired - and that was a sad day for our family. We have not been able to find another doctor that is his equal since then and we sorely missed being able to have him in our lives, giving us direction and guidance for healthcare issues. Please know that we are praying for you and your entire family. His memory will live on in the hearts and lives of all that he touched here on earth. Love, the Medsker family

I am on the Skiles Test Youth Baseball and Softball Board of Directors, a youth baseball league in Lawrence Township that has been around for over 50 years. It is humbling to see Skiles Test listed among Dr Pauszek's many accomplishments and passions. There is no doubt that his dedication has resulted in the long standing tradition of the league. It is unfortunate to say that the documented history of the league does not exist; many of us have made an effort to try to collect whatever information we can. We want the memory of Dr Pauszek and the many others that constructed and maintained our league to live on.

Dr. Pauszek - what can I say that hasn't been said already! When my baby was born, I had no pediatrician. The lady in the bed next to me said her Doctor was Dr. Pauszek so I told the nurse that mine was Dr. Pauszek also. That baby turns 50 this year. Dr. Pauszek was a great man and an incredibly talented physician; so patient, warm, kind and intelligent. Not only was he my pediatrician, but he took care of my daughter from birth to age 19. He was truly a part of the family.
My parents told me that he saved my life in the early 70's, and I was present when he saved my daughters life in 1995. He truly was a savior.
I remember when my daughter was hospitalized - over 3 days or so, in the early 90's - she was just a baby, and I was stressed the max, running on no sleep and zero sustenance; finally, when she was well and ready to go home, I discovered I had become sick myself. I didn't say anything to Dr. P., but I was crying and completely worn down, so he took me aside, wrote a prescription for me, gave me a little hug, and said "hang in there, Pat". That was an amazing moment; a memory of him I'll never forget. I'm heartbroken that he is gone, but I am forever grateful that he was born and a part of my life for so many years. RIP, Dr. P.
We will never for get you.
Sincerely,
Patricia & Meg Brant

As I sit at work reading these messages I hear:
Amazing, Caring, Kind, Sweet, Healing, Peace to our lives, help with new mothers, took care of 3rd Generations children, loved by all, compassionate, listened, loved, spoke of his family a lot, loved his family, great co-worker, loved his new mothers, and his patients.
As I work in an ICU today my thoughts are: What great values for all doctors to live by.
I sure wish Kerry and I could have met Kay and Bob years ago so we could have felt his love a little longer.

Dr. Pauszek was my pediatrician, as well as my 4 siblings. We all had problems with allergies at different times, and he was amazing. Dr. Bob had a gift of diagnosis. He just knew what was wrong, and God gave him wisdom to know what to do! After going to college at Purdue, getting married and living in Lafayette; he was a life saver with our first child! My mom recognized the signs of allergies at 8 weeks old. The pediatrician here did not know what to do with him! I had begun to give him a T. of Similac with his cereal and he was allergic to cow's milk! Dr. Pauszek knew immediately what to do! He was kind, thoughtful and very encouraging. He put all my fears to rest as a new nursing mom. He also took care of our second child who had immune deficiencies. We drove 90 minutes one way to have him see our children, and it was totally worth it. Dr. Pauszek was a true blessing and I pray your hearts are comforted by knowing he is with the Lord. Our entire family is grateful for his professional care and his love for children. He was a very precious man, and impacted so many people.

Sorry to here this, here is a memory. When I was 8 years old which was 50 years gao, I had gotten a flu shot my immune system was bad. I had a reaction to it and almost died my parents took me to Community East and they said do you mind if this resident looks at your daughter my parents of course said yes please. I don't remember a lot about it but Dr. Pauszek saved my life and when I had kids I was trying to find a good doctor and my parents said try Doctor Pauszek well he wasn't taking new patients and then I told the nurse the story and she said let me ask him, well he remembered me and my parents and he became my 4 boys doctor, he was the best Pediatrician. Thank you Rest in Peace Holly Yaryan Conn and boys they are now 37,36, 33 and 31

Being a new parent is hard but when you are lucky enough to find a doctor to partner with you in the care of your child makes the journey so much easier. Dr. Pauszek was truly the best doctor we've ever known. He not only cared for our girls ~ he cared for our family. We have and will always hold him in highest regard and are grateful to have known him. Our most sincere condolences to his loving family. Rest in Peace Dr. Pauszek ......with love and respect

Prayers and love to his family. Dr. Pauszek was my children's doctor. He was amazing with helping me understand everything, as my son, first child, was born with disabilities. My children are now 28 and 23.

Dr. Pauszek was my girls pediatrician from the day they were born until they were too old to go to him. He was a huge help to me as a new mother almost 50 years ago! My daughter called him Dr. Pockets because she couldn't pronounce his name. He was a very caring doctor, I'm glad he was there for my daughters and myself. My condolences to his family.

What a compassionate & caring man! He was my daughter's pediatrician & she cried when she turned 18 & could not see him anymore. She was sick one time & I was so stressed out & he offered to take her home for the weekend! He was one of a kind! RIP Dr. Pauszek. You have certainly earned your wings! Prayers & thoughts for the family!

My name is Darlene Roth. I first met Dr. Pauszek in 1967. I continued to see him for the next few years and when I had 4 babies I took them back to him. My first grandchild was born in 1995. when he was born Dr. Pauszek told me that Hayden was his first third generation patient. Dr. Pauszek was the kindest person and the best doctor I will ever know.

Breaks my heart he was the best doctor. I saw him all through my childhood up until I went to college and had my own kids. My kids also went to him. He would always joke and tell me he was going to take my tonsils out on Sunday morning after church. Plus he would give me this shots for coughing that did wonders. So many memories of him. My ❤ goes out to the family.
My mom talked highly of him and the staff. 10th and Shadeland yes I remember that office well.

I went to Dr. Pauszek as a child and then took my children to him as well. He didn't just diagnose illness - he listened. He always said a Mom knows their child best, and he would ask for input before examining my kids. As they grew, he listened to them as well. We trusted him with our kids well-being, and he took that seriously. He also encouraged me as a parent, and I am so thankful I had him when I was raising my children. God bless all of you as you mourn his loss and celebrate his life. He spoke of his family often, and I know he loved you all dearly. Cindy Fulper (Sean, Stefan, and Rachael)
