I knew Bob in high school at Laurentian and later at Carleton. We were school mates and friends, in those days.

Dear Diane:
I and Asmat were in Pakistan when we got the sad news about Bob. We tried to change our travel plans to ensure that we make to the funeral service. We are now in Ottawa but both of us have a very bad cold and cough. We are hoping to attend the funeral service for Bob on Monday.
As you know, Bob and I were co-workers for over 30 years at Health Canada. During my 45 years of professional service in Canada (Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario) and during my interactions with scientists worldwide, I had not met an exceptional, compassionate, caring, considerate and helpful person like Bob. He was a perfect gentleman. He did not know how to say no to any request from his peers and entertained each request with a smile. When we moved to Ottawa from Sakatoon in 1977, he went to a great length to assist us in buying a house and getting us settled in Ottawa. Bob even helped me in filling out forms and required documents for Sadaf (my daughter)' admission to the medical school at Western University. Bob was a true friend and colleague. I considered him as my younger brother. The Gilani family owes him a lot and we would sadly miss him. May God bless his soul in paradise. Please accept our sincere condolences at the passing of Dr. Robert William Peace and may God give you and the family the patience to bear this heavy loss. At the Gilani household, Dr. Peace would always be remembered for his kindness.

Dear Peace family,
My condolences for the loss of a wonderful husband and loving father. I have been fortunate to meet such a great man. He was a devoted volunteer for NCVISA and helped out in so many ways. We will miss him and his dry humour tremendously.

Wow! So sorry to hear the news about Bob. You both and Janice/Charlie, gave me my first job as a nanny. I was in the care of a 4 month old and a 9 month old infant boys. I had my hands full, but with the love from everyone we managed it for a few months until I got accepted into the ECE program. That was thanks to all of you. Now it is your turn to lean on other peoples shoulders. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time of healing.

So very sad to read of Bob's passing. I remember from our days at Health Canada what a vibrant, outgoing personality he was. Coincidentally Bob's name came up in conversation just last week. For whatever reason Tolstoy's name was mentioned and I told the story of when Diane was expecting Christopher and how Bob said if the baby was a boy he wanted to call him Warren. Cherish the memories. Anne Sewell
I wish I could be with you on Sunday to celebrate Bob's life. Unfortunately I will be out of town but will be thinking of you.

I am terribly sad to say farewell to my long time Scouting friend. I can only offer the Canoe Tripper's Prayer Rise free from care before the dawn and seek adventure, Let noon find thee by other lakes, and my night over take thee everywhere at home. I pray you have found the ultimate campsite Bob.
