ROBERT LEE "ROB"
Theater founder, poet, teacher & activist. Unexpectedly on March 16, 2003; beloved husband of Timau Betty Jean Penny; beloved father of Johnny, Robert Lee Jr. & Kadumu; brother of Ann & Betty Jean Penny, Roy & Jefferson D. Penny Jr.; also survived by 12 grandchildren & 3 great-grandchildren. Friends may call Friday 10 am to 9 pm at St. Benedict The Moor Catholic Church, Hill Dist. where a Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 am. Interment Highwood Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to WHITE MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Pt. Breeze.

My deepest sympathy and prayers to the family and friends of Professor "Rob" Penny during this time of sorrow. The African world has truly lost a great spirit and human being. In my short stay in Pittsburgh "Rob" made feel welcomed and extended himself to me as a friend and a colleague. Pittsburgh has surely lost one of its treasures. Rob's work and his courage was an inspiration to many. He will be surely missed.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Rob Penny. He was a former colleague I admired and respected greatly. His passing is a great loss to us all. My deepest condolences to his widow, Betty, and to all of those who have loved him so dearly.
