Robert Petricca Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 22, 2010.
Robert Anthony Petricca Jr. was called by Our Lord on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the young age of 31. "Rob" as everyone affectionately called him, was born on July 2, 1978 in Tarzana, California to Robert Sr. and Bernadine. Together with his older sister, Deana, Rob grew up in Woodland Hills, California where he graduated from El Camino High School. After high school, Rob sought out opportunities in the music industry as a drummer. He helped found and drummed for the band Nimbus and most recently was the drummer for the group Honeysmash. He lived all of his life in Southern California except for a brief time when he and his band, Nimbus, moved to Cleveland, Ohio to concentrate on their music careers. Rob loved music and the drums. During his early years, he could be seen banging, with a beat naturally, on anything that would offer him an opportunity for percussion, pots and pans, boxes, the wall. Rob started "drumming" at the early age of 3 years when his parents got him his first drum set for Christmas. He was hooked. From then on, Rob lived for drumming. Nothing could get in his way. All he wanted to do was become a great drummer. He drummed in the Marching Band in Middle School and a Jazz band in High School. He had extraordinary talent. Next to family, drumming was his life. He also had a wonderful sense of humor. Rob was always a great source of entertainment especially when he was with his sister, Deana. Rob and Deana were a comedy team like no other. Rob and his sister became very close as the years went by. They were alike in many ways. Through the years he had many interests but his first love was always being a great drummer. Rob was a great friend to many and will be deeply missed.

Rob is survived by his mother, Bernadine Cole, his father, Robert Sr., his sister, Deana Crown, his nephew, Robert Dean Crown, his step-father Joseph Cole, his step-mother, Janet Petricca, his half-sister, Cheryl Petricca, his aunt, Viola Brophy, his cousins, Edward Brophy and Susan Brophy and many many friends who loved him.

Although I haven't seen Rob in over ten years, I wanted to reach out to the family and offer my condolences. It's with heartfelt sadness to hear of Rob's passing at such a young age. In the time I've known Rob, I've had the pleasure of seeing how much he loved playing the drums and how much he loved and cherished his family.

My love, support, and my prayers are with Deana, Robert Sr., Bernie, Joe and the rest of the family.... especially Rob. I'd like to extend my support and if there is anything I can do, please feel free to reach out to me at my e-mail address or on Facebook at:

I met Rob at Topanga Pizza he worked with my Dad Oscar of a few year and he trained me to be the server I am today. When I was younger I remember Rob always serving my mom, little brother and me. As we walked in the first thing out of him was JUNIOR greeting my little and always hugging my mom and me. I will never forget his big smile and dimples of him. He always was sooooo caring and loving. I want to say that our family will miss him but never forget him. He was a big part of our life and I am thankful to have met him. MISS YOU ROB. RIP!

I met Rob while working with him on some Honeysmash recordings.
Beyond being a True Pro on all levels, Rob was as nice and funny and Fun to be around as they get!
I never heard him say a negative thing about anyone or anything.
Always had a smile on his face, something funny to say and an obvious hunger to be Great.
I'm so happy to have had a chance to get to know him...even if just for a short while.

It is with the Deepest Sorrow that I have to say Goodbye so soon.

My Thoughts and Prayers are with You Rob, Your Family, Friends and BandMates...

Rest In Peace Rob...

Sincerely,

Frank
