Richard E. Wisner, 87, a lifelong resident of Schuylkill Haven, entered into eternal life Sunday at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Schuylkill Haven, Dec. 12, 1926, he was a son of the late Harry C. and Mary Gallagher Wisner.

He attended Schuylkill Haven schools and was formerly employed as a welder by Losch Boilers and retired from Reading Anthracite.

He served in the Army during World War II as military police in Japan. Two years ago, Dick was given the honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery.

Dick was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven. He was also a life member of North Ward Social Club and Rainbow Hose Company No. 1.

He loved to fish and spent many summers with his wife in Delaware. Dick was a kind, loving father and a gentle man that will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, John Wisner; and his loving wife of 56 years, M. Francine Bubser Wisner, in 2004.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary "Missy" Porter and companion, Jay Adams, and Sue A. Carroll and husband, Charles, all of Schuylkill Haven; three grandchildren, Sherry Topper and husband, Gary, Suwanee, Ga., Scott Porter and wife, Christine, Lansdale, and Christiana Carroll, Schuylkill Haven; and three great-grandchildren, Porter Harrell, Suwanee, Luca Frances Porter and Damien Wisner Porter, both of Lansdale. He is also survived by siblings, Katherine Salmon, Port Charlotte, Fla., Maryann Woomert and Frances Mullins, both of Schuylkill Haven, Vincent Wisner, Deer Lake; and his sweetheart, Verna Fidler, Summit Station; nieces and nephews; and his faithful companions, Sugar and Toby.

A private committal service with military honors will be held at the family's convenience at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dick's memory may be made to Covenant Home Care, Hospice 1223 Pottsville Pike, Shoemakersville, PA 19555 or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. To extend online condolences, visit www.gsesfuneralhomes.com. Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc. has been entrusted with arrangements, with cremation services provided by Riverside Cremation Services LLC, both in Schuylkill Haven.

Our fun trips to Lowes & Home Depot to look for yet more tools...sharing coffee at DD, working together on all of our "projects" & the endless hours spent together on the deck just to talk. I thank you for all of these & many more memories that I hold deep in my heart & for being the very best Dad.
Love you forever...Sis
