Robert Powers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 27, 2024.
Robert ("Bob") J. Powers passed away on July 24, 2024, in New York, New York. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 28, 1938, he went on to attend Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, Missouri, and later received his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He lived in New York City for most of his adult life, working in finance. Bob was engaging in conversation, had a wry sense of humor, and always enjoyed sharing a meal with friends. He was an avid reader, a history buff, and cinema aficionado. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of NYC restaurants and generally loved the city. He is predeceased by his brother William ("Bill") with whom he loved to travel, both to Europe and to national parks in the Western U.S. He is survived by his three nephews, Michael, Nicholas, and Colin; as well as his grandniece, Asha, and grandnephew, Orion. Further details regarding a celebration of life ceremony will be provided by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Bob was a real character, we cared for him, he was a good man at heart, could be challenging at times. He cared about the gay community a lot and made that very clear to us.
