sarasota - Robert "Bob" Pressley, 75, of Washington D.C., passed away on September 24, 2023, in Sarasota, FL, at home surrounded by his family after a brave battle with cancer. He was born in Washington D.C. and later moved to Florida, where he spent the remainder of his life. Bob was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Bob was a man of great character and integrity. He possessed a warm and engaging personality that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He had a remarkable sense of humor that brought laughter and joy to the lives of those around him. When asked how long he had been fabricating, he would playfully respond, "since about 7 this morning," leaving everyone in stitches.

Throughout his career, Bob made significant contributions to the field of Sheet Metal Fabrication. He started his journey at the esteemed Smithsonian Institution, honing his skills and gaining invaluable experience. Driven by a strong entrepreneurial spirit, Bob went on to establish his own business, Heipress Sheet Metal, in Maryland. In 1989, he relocated to Florida, where he founded Pressley Sheet Metal Services, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Bob found solace in a variety of hobbies. He had a passion for traveling, exploring new destinations, and immersing himself in different cultures. Fishing was another beloved pastime that allowed him to connect with nature and find tranquility. Bob had an affinity for antiques, particularly cars, pinball machines, and slot machines. His collection was a testament to his appreciation for the craftsmanship of bygone eras.

Bob's greatest joy in life came from his role as a devoted husband and loving father. He shared 55 beautiful years of marriage with his best friend, JoAnne. Together, they built a loving home and raised a wonderful family. Bob leaves behind a legacy of love and strength through his children: sons Bobby, David, Jimmy (Stephanie), Johnny (Renee), and daughter Lisa (Jesus). He was a pillar of support and guidance to his grandchildren Parker, Antonio, Christian, Peyton, Samuel, Haley, Trevor, Devin (Faith), and 6 great-grandchildren. The loss of his dear grandson, Dominic Galan, was a heartache he carried with him.

A traditional celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather and pay their respects. This solemn occasion will serve as a testament to the impact Bob had on the lives of those around him. In a fitting tribute to his memory, Bob will be laid to rest by "Eternal Reefs," ensuring a lasting remembrance of his remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bob's name to Tidewell Hospice Sarasota. This charitable organization provides invaluable support and care to those in need, honoring Bob's legacy of compassion and kindness.
