Robert Rainey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 7, 2023.
Robert Earle Rainey, beloved father, grandfather, and retired Navy veteran, passed away surrounded by family on November 23, 2023, in McKinney, Texas at the age of 76.

Born on June 17, 1947, Robert lived a full and adventurous life. He dedicated 20 years of active-duty service to the United States Navy, serving his country with honor and courage. Robert was a skilled archer and bow maker, and often spent his free time perfecting his craft and popping cans with a pellet gun or 22. He also had a soft spot for animals, always welcoming any furry friend into his home with open arms.

Robert's military career took him to different parts of the world, but he always made sure to prioritize his family. He was a loving father to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his mother Patricia P. Anderson, and father, Robert R. Rainey, his brother. Christopher P. Anderson, and his son Charles "Boomer" Carlisle. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Jacobs, and daughter, Michelle Maxwell. He was also a proud grandfather to 9 grandchildren: Lauren Carlisle, Cerena Walker, Michael Carlisle, Ryan Rainey, Carson Maxwell, Mason Maxwell, Brayden Maxwell, Kate Maxwell, and Drew Maxwell, and one great-grandson, Bryant Walker.

Robert will be remembered for his strength, determination, and unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Robert will be returned to the "turquoise waters" he loved so much by the United States Navy with full honors. A celebration of Robert's life will be held in January 2024, date to be announced, at the First Christian Church in Dennison, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Christian Church in Robert's memory. His legacy will live on through the memories and stories shared by those who loved him. Rest in peace Robert.
