Although I haven't spoken with Bob in almost 7 years, I'm confident I could walk up to him, say hello and instantly pick up our last conversation. He was that kind of person, open, witty, fun loving and immensely likeable. Almost of my memories of Bob are from high school, where I think we met for the first time on the football field, during grueling two-a-day practices. He was competitive, and as I recall, a pretty good athlete. We stayed friends throughout high school and Bob always seemed to be near the center of the active high school social life at SA.
I was not surprised to learn he fathered several children and built a loving and successful family with his wife, Terri, whom I met on more than one occasion, but I never got to know very well. I sure he made as many friends after high school, as he did during.
“Robert” Regan, was a name I never heard. We always called him “Animal Bob”, a name given to him by one of the coaches our freshman year. And the name stuck, even though he wasn’t an animal in the usual sense of the word. But at St. Albert’s, a given name, especially one that caught on, was something to be worn, like a letter jacket, and Animal Bob wore it well.
It is of course sad to say farewell to an old friend as he passes on to the next big dance. I never really got to say goodbye, but we did have that warm and kidding chat several years ago.
Well, Bob old friend, this weekend is all about you and I’m told there is a huge turnout of faithful, teary-eyed friends. You left us too early, but in doing so you move on at the top of your game, something few of us will ever get to do. When you open your eyes again and find yourself in good company, I imagine you’ll seek out another Bob, Bob Devaney, and after a few drinks you’ll start joking and then realize there’s no glory in stealing the Sooner Schooner on game day, with the Huskers moving east for more money and whatnot. I hear no one has ever stolen the dot on the “I” during the Buckeye marching band halftime show, so when it happens I’ll know that our friend with the unforgettable smirk has done it again.
Until later,
Louie

Death is the passageway to salvation and heaven, where Bob is now enjoying his new life, and singing with the host of angels. May his vacant place be filled with thy Holy Spirit, and comfort you in the days ahead. Life is so short. Like a blink of an eye, it can be gone. Bob will be missed, but not forgotten. Have faith and reassurance in our loving Savior's ultimate plan. Our love and prayers are with you during this difficult time! With sincere sympathy, Gale, Sandeanne, and Colby Vetter Hartley, Iowa

Dear Teri and Family,
I was so sad to see such a great man taken from us so early. The short time that I have had the privilege to have known you and the early beginnings of your precious family, it was truly a privilege. Please take some solace in knowing that all of you will have your very own special angel to watch over all of you for all the years to come.
We will keep you in and prayers and thoughts, if there is anything that either Ashleigh or I can do to help out please do not hesitate to ask
