Robert Renick Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 24, 2019.
Robert (Bobby) Hershel Renick passed peacefully into the waiting arms of our Lord on 24 May 2019. He was born on 11 Nov 1941, to Louise Elizabeth Lewis Renick and Robert Hershel Renick in Lampasas, Texas. He graduated from Lampasas High School in 1960. He began working at the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1962, in San Antonio, Texas. He married the love of his life, Harriet Kay Scofield, in July 1963. Shortly thereafter, he took a leave of absence from the railroad to enlist in the US Army Security Agency and was stationed in Livorno Italy for three of four years. He and Kay returned to his job with the railroad in San Antonio in 1967 to work and raise a family. They have two children, John Robert Renick and Julie Lynn Renick Franco. Bobby was always spiritually focused and remained a faithful Christian all his life. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 2003, and moved to Marble Falls, Texas. He attended the Marble Falls Church of Christ. He served as a deacon for some time, both in San Antonio and in Marble Falls. He enjoyed traveling and meeting new people, playing golf, fishing, going camping, playing dominoes, watching sports of any kind, cooking new dishes, participating in church activities, listening to good music and especially being with his children and grandchildren. He had a knack for solving problems around the house and the yard, and could always figure out a way to get things working again. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved talking to friends, as well as strangers, wherever he traveled. He never got tired of bragging about his children and grandchildren to anyone who would listen.

He is preceded in death by both his parents, his step-father, John Ben Parsons, and his half-brother, Johnny Lynn Parsons. He is survived by his sister, Linda Fay Renick Gilmore and husband, Vern, (Arlington), a son, John Robert Renick and wife Patricia (Iola); a daughter, Julie Lynn Renick Franco and husband Eric (San Antonio), six grandchildren, David Franco and wife Stefanie (San Antonio), Jordan Franco (San Antonio), Ryan and Colton Renick (Iola), Jackson Robert Franco (Annapolis Maryland), and Hannah Kay Franco (San Antonio), as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services are pending.

The family is grateful for the fine care they received from the doctors and nurses who work at Texas Oncology, and especially to those at the Hill Country Memorial Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to either the Marble Falls Church of Christ Ministry, 711 Broadway, Marble Falls, TX 78654 or the Hill Country Memorial Hospice Group, 808 Rueben St., Fredericksburg, TX 78624.
