Robert Restuccia Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 22, 2025.
Hyannis - It is with great love and deep sadness that we announce the passing of everyone's favorite uncle, Robert (Uncle Bob) Restuccia who left us peacefully on May 13, 2025 at the age of 90.

He was born December 17, 1934 in Boston, the son of the late Angelina (Pellegrino) and Domenic Restuccia. Mr. Restuccia was raised in Belmont, where he had been a lifelong resident until he moved to Hyannis. Bob was educated at Tufts University where he earned his BS in engineering, Class of 1956.

A wonderful mind and a generous soul, Bob was a longtime engineer at Raytheon, where he played a key role in the Patriot missile project. Though his work often addressed matters of national importance, those who knew him well remember a man defined not by his career but by his heart. His true legacy lives on in the joy he shared so freely with others whether it was weekends at his ski chalet in Jackson, NH and summer escapes to his condo at the Yachtsman in Hyannis. Bob lived to bring people together. The laughter, stories, and warmth shared in those places will be remembered for generations.

Bob had a deep love for his family and friends that felt like family. His interests were wide and varied. Bob was a terrific photographer, sports enthusiast, and tutor of elementary school children. He had a keen mind and embraced technology. He always figured out what made things tick; he could fix just about anything. He was the uncle who never missed a birthday, always had a great story to share, or song to sing. He is survived by his many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, godchildren, and countless friends who considered him family. Though he never sought the spotlight, his impact on those around him was immeasurable.

A memorial gathering will be held this summer in Belmont and on Cape Cod. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod (https://emassbigs.org/cape-cod/) and Volunteers in Public Schools (https://vips.givepulse.com/group/199698-Volunteers-In-Public-Schools-VIPS).

Uncle Bob gave us more than we could ever return, and we will miss him always.

As one of Bob's godchildren, I've known Bob all of my life. He has been a great friend to all of us Houles, and we've enjoyed many visits and phone conversations over the years. We will miss him.

Uncle Bob was closer to me than my uncles by relation and I have always considered him as family. He was one of the nicest, most considerate people I have ever known, and always shared so much with so many. I was extremely blessed to have had him in my life, and I know my entire family feels the same way. My Dad and I were closest to him, and this has hit us very hard. I have so many fond memories of him that I could not possibly list them all (I think my favorite times with him were at his chalet in Jackson). He was there from my birth, throughout my childhood and teenage years, and we then kept in constant touch throughout my adult life, even after my life took me from Massachusetts to Alaska to California, and now, to Arizona. He was a big part of my formative years and helped influence the man I have become today. I am beyond grateful he was our friend. I know how close the Restuccia family is, so I send you my heartfelt condolences. He will be missed and remembered by us, always.

Uncle Bob was simply the best. When I was a young girl, we'd all go skiing together. One day, having grown overconfident after a successful day on the bunny slope, I bravely took the lift to a trail higher up the mountain. Then I promptly crumbled tearfully in fear and couldn't descend on my own. Uncle Bob "rescued me" by putting my tiny skis inside his and snowplowing us down the mountain together patiently & lovingly. This firmly ensconced him as a hero in my heart & it never changed. This is just one of so many wonderful memories with him. I will love & miss him forever. My deepest condolences to those who knew & loved him.
