Robert Webb Sellers

Runge - Robert Webb Sellers, 70, of Runge, Karnes County, Texas, devoted husband, beloved father, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025. Born November 12, 1954 in San Antonio, Texas, Robert was the son of Jeff Porter Sellers and Letitia "Tish" Walker Sellers. They instilled in him a deep appreciation for the land, family, and traditions. He graduated from Texas Military Institute in 1973. After attending Texas Tech University he later graduated from the highly respected TCU Ranch Management program in 1978.

Robert grew up learning the values of loyalty, hard work, and friendship - qualities that would define his life as a cowboy and a rancher. He lived each day to the fullest and always with his great sense of adventure. He truly loved the outdoors and was happiest on horseback working cattle, fishing saltwater flats, and taking a late afternoon drive during "twigging season."

Robert was a source of countless stories, many of which became legend among family and friends. He could be heard saying "maybe you should keep that one under your hat" with a mischievous grin and a twinkle in his eye. Robert lived life on his terms - independent, authentic, genuinely kind, a huge heart and always ready for a good time. He was the epitome of a true friend. He treasured poker nights, "Prayer Meeting," trips to Wyoming, and swapping stories over a cold beer at the end of a long day.

Robert was a wonderful loving father and he cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren, who miss him tremendously. Although seventy years is shorter than hoped, Robert lived his life too fully to ever be limited, and fittingly, he departed this life on National Day of the Cowboy... with his boots on.

Robert is survived by his wife, Vonda Sellers; daughter Sally Sellers Hill, her husband Roger; son Robert Webb Sellers, Jr. and his wife Alyse; grandchildren Roger "Cuatro" Chilton Hill IV, Eleanor "Ellie" Porter Hill, Emilie "Emmie" McClure Sellers and Catherine "Porter" Sellers; his brother Jefferson P. Sellers and wife Paula; and his chosen brother William R. "Bill" Heck and his wife Sandy. Robert is also survived by stepson Dustin Wright, his wife Caylee and their children, Greyson and Rhett.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Jessica Anderson and all the incredible caregiving staff at Morada Memory Care and Senior Living, as well as the exceptional nurses from Crown Hospice. Their compassion and love gave Robert comfort and dignity in his final months, and for that we will be forever grateful.

A service in celebration of Robert's life will be held on his birthday, November 12, 2025, 2:30 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Goliad, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the Alzheimer's Association, a charity of your choice, or simply share a story of Robert and raise a glass to a true cowboy.
