Robert Stammer Former New Jersey resident Mr. Robert Russel Stammer, of Nixa, Mo., passed away at Cox South on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017 at the age of 70. His death was preceded by a short illness. Bob was born to parents Edward and Marie Stammer on July 12, 1946, in Lyndhurst, N.J. He grew up in Lyndhurst and over the years resided in Hackettstown, N.J., and Cedar Knolls, N.J. In 2000, he moved to Clinton Township, N.J., where he resided in the Westgate section of Beaver Brook. Robert graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J., with a degree in electrical engineering. Over the years, he was employed at Lockheed Martin, Kearfott Guidance and Navigation, Van Heusen Industries, and Deloitte & Touche; he retired in 2009. After his retirement, he accompanied his wife to Finland for a Fulbright experience, where he explored Helsinki and learned some minor Finnish. The Stammers moved to Nixa in October of 2015 after a short period in Springfield, Mo. Bob found himself several activities during his retirement, including a continuation of his jewelry business, Stammer Creations, and active participation as a "Friend of the Garden" at the Springfield Botanical Garden, where he earned a master gardener certificate and actively volunteered. Bob is survived by his best friend and wife, Elizabeth (Beth) Torcivia-Stammer; his brothers, Dr. Richard Stammer of Hampton, N.H., and Mr. Theodore Stammer of Lyndhurst, N.J.; and his stepsons, Benjamin E. Torcivia of Stroudsburg, Pa., and Dr. Peter C. Torcivia of High Bridge, N.J. Cremation took place on Jan. 17, 2017. Later this year, friends and family will be invited to attend a memorial service at Long Lake in upstate New York; details will be forwarded at that time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South. The family is grateful for all the expressions of sympathy, both digital and personal. If desired, please make donations in Bob's name to Friends of the Garden at the Springfield (Mo.) Botanical Gardens or the American Cancer Association. I greatly enjoyed meeting Bob at the Master Gardener Plant Sale last year. He had some interesting observations and we exchanged a couple of emails about the plant sale. So very sorry to hear of his passing--my deepest condolences.

My condolences to the family and friends. Made the thoughts at Hosea 13:14, where God promises to reverse deaths effects, bring a measure of comfort during this difficult time.
