Robert VanZandt Obituary
Robert VanZandt, 64, of West Frankfort passed away at 3:25 a.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Frankfort Care Center in West Frankfort after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Robert was born June 4, 1947 in Elgin, Illinois to Alfred Alva and Ethel Mae (Orr) VanZandt.
Robert was a retired machinist, having worked at Diagraph Bradley for over 30 years. He was of the Baptist faith and attended the Third Baptist Church in West Frankfort when was younger. He loved spending time outdoors going hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed hunting deer and rabbit. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
Robert is survived by his two daughters, Jackie Wyant and husband Jack of Macedonia, Rhonda VanZandt-Williams and husband Jeff of Bonnie; five grandchildren, Tommy Sullivan, Mallory Wyant, Lucas Wyant of Macedonia, Lacie Pearce of Carbondale and Summer Pearce of Bonnie; sister, Patricia Marie Rogers and husband Gary of Mt.Vernon; brother, Arthur Lee Van Zandt of West Frankfort. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Robert VanZandt and a sister-in-law, Mary Catherine VanZandt.
Private family graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2012 with Gene Fox officiating. Interment will follow at East Fork Cemetery in West Frankfort.
In honor of Roberts wishes there will be no visitation.
Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
