Celebrating Dr. Wallachs' memory. He worked with my Mom at Group Health and when I joined, I became very fond of him too. I use to scribe for the ECG readings and the amount of funny noises and simulation of tug boats he would record always brightened up my day. Every time I travel to work on Lake Washington and pass the Marina, I ALWAYS think of Robert. Gone but never forgotten.

To have his name pop up as memorable is priceless. Bob may be gone, but he is definitely not forgotten. I know you're having a great time in heaven with loved ones that have gone before you (some of your old Cardiology pals). Enjoy laughter with my Mom as well:)

I use to scribe ECG's for the cardiologist at Group Health on Capitol Hill from 1987-1996 while working with my Mom Emma. Bob use to be hilarious as I listened to his dictation. He knew I was the only one that listened to his dictation and boy was it priceless. One of my fondest memories was him sliding a cup across the table to make it sound like a tug boat on his dictation. Every single time he did this it was a different sound effect with a different crazy remark. One year I collected ones that stood out and created "Bob's Best Dictations" and presented it to him. I can still see that smirk/smile of fascination. He will never be forgotten as he was a close friend to our family. My Mom worked with him for a number of years and they had a special relationship. When she had a stroke Bob came up to Swedish to be there at grand rounds to speak with the Physicians first hand to find out what was going on with his friend aka my Mom. His compassion, value of friendship and sense of humor are just a few things that are so wonderful about him.

I would see Bob almost every weekday at Seward Park with his hilarious dog Coco. He had a wicked sense of humor and a healthy disrespect for stupid rules. I moved away from the hood and have not seen Bob in at least 6 years. I am sad to hear that he has passed away. I know he was close to his sister and kids. And of course the irrepressible Coco the baby duck chaser.

A Fun Memory:
Soon after Bob arrived at Group Health, we were up in the 6th floor dining area and I do not recall how the subject came up, but someone opined that "nothing good ever came out of Westchester County, NY." Bob immediately took personal contradictory exception to that statement and said HE was from Westchester County!
I asked if he ever went to their YMCA camp in Connecticut. Camp Sloane? He had! We stood up and, in front of the embarrassed other physicians, we sang the entire spirited Camp Sloane fight song, ingrained in our then 7 year old memories!
In addition he was friends with the director's family who was my father's best man! We were instantly friends and many years later he brought me a camp mug.
I miss his wry sense of humor but will always remember and appreciate his care for our shared patients.
