Robert Warne Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 22, 2025.
Robert David Warne (Bob), 81, passed away on July 19, 2025 in the loving hands of his family. Born on January 5, 1944, Bob was a graduate of Gaylord High School Class of 1962. Following graduation, Bob went on to serve his country as an E4 Rank Service member of the US Navy. As a part of the elite group called the Seabees, Bob served from 1962-1966 and was awarded the National Vietnam Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal. Both awards are granted to honorable armed forces members involved in the Vietnam conflicts, battles, and missions. They honor the dedication, bravery, and sacrifice made by each member.

Known for his loving, simple, and gracious nature, Bob will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends. He was a passionate enthusiast of Lionel model trains. In his earlier years he enjoyed fast boats, water skiing and "tinkering" with anything mechanical. He loved his years spent with his son Scott on their dirt bike and moto-cross adventures, as well as his years with his wife and daughters raising, riding and competing on horses. If Charlie or the kids didn't have him busy, you'd find him watching or listening to the Detriot Red Wings, Lions or Tigers. Beyond all else, Bob cherished his time with his grandchildren teaching them all the little things he learned and loved.

Bob married his loving wife Charlie on November 27th, 1970. During their 40 years of marriage they provided love and guidance to over 300 children through their many years in the Foster Care System. In addition, Bob spent his life working marinas, driving gravel train and supporting the family carriage business. All of which he loved.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Wendy Warne of SC, Tisha Boyden (Tim) of Fife Lake, MI, son, Scott Warne (Deidra) of Lapeer, MI Grandchildren, Natalie Boyden, Haylee Warne, Cooper Boyden (Andrea); great-grandchildren, Lola Boyden, Rowen Sauve, and Lucas Warne. He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Paul Warne (Shirley), Sharon Schildt, Mary Beiring (Mike), Michael Warne (Karen), and brother and sister in laws, Bertie Abraham (Dale), Dee Free, Lloyd Jaynes, Lynn Jaynes, and Dawn Peak (Calvin). Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Haroldine (Charlie) Warne; his parents, Ed and Marie Warne; and his brother, Lynn Warne.

A joyous remembrance day will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the family home in Lapeer, MI. Family and friends are asked to bring their fondest memories, moments and stories for a day of honor in Bob's memory.

Bob was a regular customer at Brian's Family Restaurant in Lapeer. He would come in pretty much every day. He loved his family very much and often talked about his wife Charlie. He missed her terribly. He was so good to all of us at the restaurant. He would pick up strangers bills quite often and pay for their meal. He loved to talk about Yellowstone the TV show with me, his carriage business and his family. He will never be forgotten. Rip Bob.

Bobby would come visit my parents occasionally (Aunt Mary and Uncle George). I remember him coming over one day in his Navy whites. He was always so kind and told the best stories. So sorry to hear of his passing.

The last time I saw Bobby was at the end of 2018. Of all the cousins, he was the one who reminded me most of my dad, George, and the one I had a crush on! I am so sorry to hear of his loss and send my love to his family.

Our near daily phone calls about what's on TV, listening to you explain golf, old documentaries on Red Wings, Mackinac, Tigers, old cars...it never ended. Lunch or dinners together, and the grandaddy of all, sitting on Mary's porch on a nice day!
I know in my heart you're in your place God took great care(and some anguish) to prepare for you, and Charlie beat you there to decorate it.
Hope you prepared for wallpaper! I know my life was better because of you. Love ya!
