Robert Watkins Obituary
Robert was a man who embraced life with passion and an adventurous spirit. Whether riding ATV trails-sometimes creating new ones-on Charlie Mountain in Clayton, Georgia, or skimming through the mangroves on his jet ski, he found joy in the thrill of exploration. He cherished time spent fishing with his beloved wife JoAnne and camping in the "blue bus," making memories that would last a lifetime. His love for storytelling was legendary among his children and grandchildren, who delighted in his tall tales and infectious laughter.
A man of unwavering faith, Robert loved the Lord and never met a stranger. His kindness knew no bounds; he would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His compassion extended to the elderly, whom he often entertained by singing at nursing homes, bringing joy to many with his warm smile and quick-witted jokes.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife, JoAnne Watkins; his brother Samuel P. Watkins and wife Jo; his children: Sheryl Watkins and husband Billy, Robert E. Watkins Jr. and wife Amy, and Suzanne Brown and husband Steve; as well as his cherished grandchildren: Amanda and Brandon Watkins; Justin, Luke, and Mia McDaniel; Jacob Bayron; and Daniel and Christian Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel P. and Loretta Watkins, as well as his sister Janet Baskin and her husband Ed and fun loving sister in law Carole Watkins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on March 29, 2025, at 1:00 PM at New Hope Presbyterian Church, located at 10051 Plantation Rd., Fort Myers, Florida.
(In lieu of flowers, the family ask you donate to a local Humane Society).
Robert's legacy of love, faith, and adventure will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His memory will continue to bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to share in his remarkable journey.
