Robert A. Watson, 94, of Blairsville, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at Keeper of the Flame Morewood, Blairsville. Born Oct. 18, 1920, in Salem Township, he was the son of Alex Watson and Hazel (Brown) Watson. Before experiencing ill health, he was an active member of Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville. He was a graduate of Blairsville High School Class of 1938. He served in the Navy as a motor machinist's mate aboard an LST in the Asia Pacific American Theater, during World War II. After he was discharged, he worked as a meat manager for Thorofare in Blairsville from 1946 until his retirement. He is survived by his son, Robert A. Watson and wife, Kathryn, of Blairsville; daughter, Nancy Stewart and husband, Charles, of Kittanning; grandchildren, Brian Watson and wife, Victoria, Erik Watson and wife, Angela, William Stewart and wife, Brenda, and Scott Stewart and wife, Natasha; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Alex Watson; mother, Hazel (Brown) Watson; wife, Mildred N. (Newhouse) Watson, who died in 2013; and sister, Hazel Watson Beers. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, in the JAMES F. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., Blairsville, where funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, with the Rev. William A. Schaefer officiating. Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville. Memorials may be made to Hebron Lutheran Church, 125 N. Liberty St., Blairsville, PA 15717 or the Blairsville Public Library, 113 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA 15717.
