Robert Weiss Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 22, 2023.
Robert David Weiss, also known as Bob, passed away on August 18, 2023, at the age of 85 in Dover, New Hampshire. Born on October 1, 1937, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Bob lived a life full of passion, curiosity, and numerous talents.

Bob had a deep love for nature and adventure. He enjoyed taking his children on hiking expeditions, cross-country skiing trips, and fishing excursions, allowing them to explore and appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. An accomplished photographer, Bob had a keen eye for capturing the essence of the world around him. He also had a talent for playing classical music on his piano and the viola, which brought him great joy.

Bob found relaxation in activities such as watercolor painting, creating gemstone bonsai trees, studying history, and gardening. He and his wife, Barbara, shared a love for travel, and together they embarked on memorable journeys to places like Alaska and Hawaii. These activities brought great fulfillment.

Bob's career as a dentist was marked by his exceptional care and genuine connection with his patients and colleagues. He formed lasting friendships, always going above and beyond to ensure the well-being of those he served. Even after retiring from the VA Hospital, Bob continued to support dental practices in need, filling in for colleagues battling illness or facing personal emergencies. He was a proud graduate of Tufts and Georgetown Universities.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Weiss, and his children, Christopher Weiss (Theresa), Jennifer Prescott (Jon), Andrew Weiss (Nadia), Valerie Wolfson (Noel), Jonathan Weiss (Sarah), 15 beloved grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Bob, also, had 4 step-children: Kimberly Camello, Cheryl Vitek, R.Thomas Milanette, Rob Milanette . He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Weiss, his parents Irving and Rita Weiss, and his brother Roger Weiss.

An intimate memorial service will be held in October near Bob's birthday, allowing family and close friends to gather and honor his life. Details will be shared at a later date. Bob's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.

After a private family memorial for my father, guests are welcome to join us to pay their respects at the Sugar Hill Inn from 1:00-3:00 on October 1st. This happens to fall on his birthday and I can't think of a better way to remember him than being in the White Mountains as the leaves are changing in autumn. 116 NH-117, Sugar Hill Rd, Sugar Hill, NH 03586
