Robert Wikman Obituary

WIKMAN Robert Wikman, age 81, of Fairfield, husband of the late Martha Peterson Wikman, died on Monday, May 12, 2003, at the Carolton Convalescent Hospital, Fairfield. Mr. Wikman was born in Bridgeport, and was a Fairfield resident most of his life. He was a retired security officer and a painter for Avco/Lycoming. He was a special police officer for the Town of Fairfield. Mr. Wikman was a former director of youth athletics for the Fairfield Recreation Department. He was a former head of the Umpires Association, and was honored by having a sports league named after him in the Town of Fairfield. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. Survivors include three sons, Gary Wikman and his wife, Sandra, of Fairfield, Mark Wikman and his wife, Nina, of Monroe, and Christian Wikman and his fiancée, Nancy Eliot, of Fairfield; one daughter, Holly Rosso and her husband, Mark, of Trumbull; one sister, Doris Carlson and her husband, Russell, of Fairfield; one sister-in-law, Arline Kudlicki and her husband, Frank, of Fairfield; seven grandchildren: Todd, Jeffrey, Karsten, Emma and Sam Wikman and Emily and Erik Rosso; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Norman Wikman. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, May 16, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. directly at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Fairfield. Burial will be in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call at the Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Avenue, Bridgeport, on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to the Fairfield Police Athletic League, 100 Reef Road, Fairfield, CT, 06824.

I'm sorry about your loss. I remember your father as an umpire back in the day. He was a fair , friendly,honest man who did alot for the sports community in Fairfield.
