WILSON--Robert W. The Board of Directors and staff of the American Civil Liberties Union mourn the passing of Robert W. Wilson, a true friend who was committed to justice and freedom for all. Known as a visionary investor, Bob was also a visionary philanthropist. Through the Robert W. Wilson Charitable Trust, he established the Legacy of Liberty Challenge, inspiring thousands of ACLU supporters to pledge over $200 million in legacy gifts. By inspiring others - and through his own extraordinary philanthropy - Bob made a lasting difference to the issues he cared about. He was passionate about criminal justice reform, and the need to provide justice to those who are imprisoned. A member of the ACLU for more than four decades, Bob gave a voice to those who have been silenced, and hope to those who had long given up on the system.
