SHIRLEY — Robert Thomas Wolski, 81, of Shirley, died Nov. 5, 2009.
He was born Dec. 26, 1927, in Anderson, the son of Audrey (Love) and Jacob Wolski II.
Robert attended Saint Mary's School and moved to Shirley in 1935. He graduated from Kennard High School in 1946, where he played basketball with a team who remained lifelong buddies. Robert served in the U.S. Army as a Technician 5th Grade, Medical Department at Fort Dix, N.J. He worked and earned his certification as a tool and die maker retiring from Delco Remy in 1993. An outstanding athlete and sports enthusiast that loved Bobby Knight's Indiana basketball, Lou Holt's Notre Dame football, Sparky Anderson's Reds baseball, and all things that went fast around a track and MASH. He loved whatever his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews were playing and attended many games.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Lola (Smalley) Wolski; daughter, Laura (Mark) Smith; son, James (Lisa) Wolski; one granddaughter and three grandsons; sister, Anna Kennedy; brother, Dale Wolski; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Audrey "Sis" Snider; brothers, Jacob James Wolski III, Walter, Richard and Donald; and nephews, Andrew and Steve Wolski.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Rose Catholic Church, Knightstown, celebrated by Fathers Joseph Rautenberg and W. Michael Kettron.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Saint Ann's Building Fund, 102 N. 19th St., New Castle, In 47362 or Shirley Fire Department, P.O. Box 57, Shirley, IN 47384.
Private burial with arrangements by Condo and Son Funeral Home, Wilkinson.

Lola,
So sorry to hear of your loss. I don't remember Robert, but I do remember you with very good memories and of course Donald when we were in school.
I am sorry I won't be able to be with you on Saturday but know that you and all of your family are in my prayers during this very trying time.
Remember that God is with us in all things and as my late husband told me. You are not all right now but you will be and your husband is all right now. No more pain, no more sorrow and anything that was bothering him doesn't bother him now.
